I'm curious to gauge as to how much people are paying for their EV insurance as I heard EVs tend to be more expensive to insure than a conventional car.

It's not that much different.
Mine went up because I put the mileage up from 9k to 18k per year before I split my commute mileage between two cars.

I'm only £205 ( inc legal and no claims ). Insurance went down £25 when I went from standard to Mg5LR. My auld volvo costs me £260 and it's only worth half the Mg5

I just picked up my new MG5LR Executive today and I found getting insurance a pain. My insurer could not get it under written as not enough data on the new LR, I was with Hastings. I had several online quotes but when I tried to complete they failed or I had to call them. I ended up with Aviva at £470 fully comp premiere with full breakdown cover. This is £220 dearer than my old Citreon C5 estate I had, although I think the price will come down. I did get a quote from Hastings for the MG5 (non lr) Excite for £235.
MG insurance quoted me £795 lol.

Not yet got my car but the insurance with LV was quoted as just over £200, more or less the same as the car I'm replacing.

However you need to ensure you are comparing like with like.

Mine didn't include recovery but you get foreign travel. I also opted for higher excess and I have a named driver. Both of us on clean licences, and full NCD. I.E lots of variables.

I did read somewhere that the increasing numbers of cars with lots of safety aids (like those in Pilot) should over time bring insurance costs down.

I wanted to effectively switch my insurance over when I moved from ICE to the MG5. Despite many years with Co-Op Insurance without problems and never making a claim, I was turned down flat for the MG5. Computer says no. When I asked for this to be escalated to an underwriter, he/she came back with it being "too much of a risk". They then threatened me with a penalty fee for terminating the insurance on the old car I'd got rid of.

Later I got sent one of those customer satisfaction questionnaires asking if I'd recommend them to others. Aye, right...

I’ve got an Admiral multi-car & home insurance policy. My MG5LR was listed on their website and the change made online with zero effort. Think cost was comparable to my previous ICE car.

I went with LV (standard range 5 Excite). £217 fully comprehensive for me and wife, both in our 70's, mileage about 5000 a year, protected NCD, plus European cover and recovery to a charger should I run out of electrons anywhere. Not yet put this to the test though!!
I think this is a good deal. Hope this is helpful for comparisons.

Why do you need breakdown Cover. You get free AA cover from MG

Isn't the free cover only when you take out a service plan with them?

Not got mine yet but the dealer told me this week that MG have temporarily suspended new service plans - may be wrong.

You get the first year cover free when you purchase the car. After that you have to have it serviced at a mg dealer. Too keep it covered not necessarily a service plan.

I'm with aviva, i upped from 8 to 10k m pa and it cost 80p more than my bmw 320d.

£328 with break down, ncb protected ( 9 years+), legal cover. Late 40s .
Next year i won't need the break down as i forgot i had it with my bank account. Blonde moment.

Edit: just did a gocompare quote and aviva show as £482

Just got a renewal. Three years NCR (I had a bump four years ago) and I was quoted £260 by Admiral with £0 additional excess.

These comparison threads are entertaining but ultimately futile if the question you are asking is "how much will it cost me?".
Everyone comes with a unique set of circumstances so you are never comparing apples with apples.

I thought Aviva wasn't on comparison sites same as Direct Line. Have they changed their policy ?

They have been for the last few years at least, they were on go compare just this morning.
And for house contents insurance

My previous insurers, Darwin, would not insure my new MG5 Long Range - it wasn’t on their system so had to go back to LV. Cost me £302, just a couple of quid more than I was being charged for a Merecedes B180. I still have 3pts on my licence from a small speeding offence that have increased the cost a bit!

My insurance is with Quote me Happy which is an Aviva subsidiary but I had not seen Aviva themselves on a comparison site. I shall keep an eye out for them.
