How to find charge stations on motorway

What is the best practice you are using for a long journey on the motorway? ZapMap?

I tend to use zap map, it can be much better to find a charge station just off the motorway if possible, usually much quiter and cheaper. e.g. supermarkets etc

Glad to hear you survived your first long journey, the first one is always a bit nerve racking. The thing with changing to an EV is that it can be a bit of a steep learning curve as not only do you have to get your head around the charging networks, particularly which ones are reliable - you also have to employ rather more thought into any long journey. Anyway, After trying a multitude of different Apps I eventually settled on a pincer method of planning my routes using ABRP (a paid subscription so I can take advantage of the live weather functions) and I use Zap-Map to double check the suitability of the suggested charge stops. The ability to read the user comments in Zap-Map has saved me from many a broken charger!

Zapmap to find them but you will end up with a few charge networks that you get apps for that are easier to use.

Zap map for an overall idea of what's around and then shell recharge, BP Pulse or instavolt apps for charging. Mostly shell recharge for me since I use ONTO and they provide charging with these networks.

I use Watts Up. Using the overview view you can see how many miles to next convenient charger and it updates as you drive

If it’s a planned long trip then ABRP is excellent.

If you are low and just need to find a charger then WattsUp is really good. WattsUp now shows the public Tesla Chargers as well
