You probably need to re-read a few more recent posts things seem to have changed from MGs perspective. You might also want to watch the podcast where Miles and Les talk it through (from about 58 minutes in)
A tactic by MG to save costs by putting people off either by potential cost of EVCC replacement or fear of losing warranty when opting for a comfort upgrade
Shame they couldn't do the update. Goes back to my comment about general charger compatibility and (lack of) support from MG/SAIC. Given that Tesla are providing 'white label' chargers to other companies, will we find there are bigger problems to come?
I really like my MG5 but that will be it...
From my experience, it is that the dealers aren't getting the proper advice and support from MG - even after raising 'technical cases' and none of them appear to share experiences with other dealers.
I started my working life as an apprentice mechanic for a VW/Audi specialist - those guys knew...
Be great if you could. Yet again poor form from MG/SAIC. At the very least it should be a service update item given they should be doing updates during a service anyway. I wouldn't get enough value for a paid update but it is unfair for owners to be deprived of the reasonably priced charging...
Luscombes. I asked about the update on the strength of threads on here when they had it in for some warranty work over Easter, but at that time hadn't tried a Tesla charger to confirm mine was incompatible.
Was yours part of a service bulletin or did you raise it as a specific issue with them?

Dealer said no update available
Nearest open charger to me is Harrogate, it wouldn't charge and the plug wouldn't release after the failed attempt.
If it has the bodge, there will be an aerial stuck to the passenger side windscreen and a USB lead plugged in to the port that is not used for carplay/android auto. There will also be a dongle that the aerial and usb are connected to in the glovebox - it may be stuck on the side with something...
The HS is a different fix to the MG5 as MG supply a full kit rather than the various trial and error attempts with the 5 (mine is going to the dealer tomorrow for the third attempt).
Given my experience that I have had to reject twice with the DAB still not working and knowing that the...
I had been using an android ai box and DABz to have a better DAB radio experience compared to the bodge. Would still need that for better navigation options and playback of mp3s but for resale when the time comes it needed the permanent fix
Like you say, the car itself is really good but not...
I was at my dealership for several hours today to have the fix done on my MG5 (unsuccessfully - they have had to create a technical case with MG), so to kill time I had a wander round the site and spotted 5 HS models with a window sticker aerial denoting it had the bodge. The ages were mainly 22...
I agree, will most likely go for a different brand next time just because of the arrogant stance MG have taken which is a shame as the car itself is good
