Apologies if this is a silly question, but is there an optimum speed to aim to drive at to keep the battery as charged up as much as possible between chargers on a long journey on motorways/ A roads. I realise at 60mph you use less battery than 69mph but would driving at 50 ( if safe) help. I...

Delighted to say I managed the return trip without the need for charging. I left the Oxford area fully charged using my granny chargerand still had over 30% charge when I got back. I generally kept to about 60mph on the motorway and chose to go the Henley route which is shorter. Was impressed...

It is good to learn that ERG chargers are also contactless, reliable and electricity can be paid for by credit card without the hassle of any downloading of apps.

Thank you for your helpful advice. So far I have only risked Instavolt and Osprey chargers which seem to be lacking in that area. I had wondered whether to us my wife's hybrid but will opt for the MG5 which has more space.

I am planning a trip to the Catford , Bromley area and wonder if any MG5 users have used the chargers at 360 Verdant Lane Catford. If so have they had any problems? Am I right in thinking I would not need to download any app as some are contactless?

We just managed to get back to near Oxford without needing to use a charger en route. The recommendations for both Braintree and South Mimms are appreciated. We actually stopped at South Mimms for a coffee and I wondered if the Gridserve chargers there were reliable.

I ended up taking the A127 and stopping at the Osprey chargers. At the third attempt after a couple of phonecalls I managed to get one to operate. Thanks again for the suggestions.

Thank you to both of you for your suggestions. I'd forgotten it is the A12 rather than the A127 that goes to Chelmsford. I had wondered about going up the M11 and then along the A414 which meant I could either go to the charging points at Ascona Bassett, North Weald or the council charging...

I am planning my first over 250 mile journey in my MG5 and am looking for reliable charging locations en route. Pre EV I would have gone M40, M25,A127, but realise we may have to vary the route to fit with reliable charging locations. I would prefer to use Instavolt or possibly Osprey chargers...

Thank you for the suggestion about looking out for Ionity and Osprey chargers. This might be useful on a possible EV trip to Frinton.
