V2G to be approved in Australia 2025

Yep, I wouldn't be holding out for MG to retrospectively update the warranty, I'm more interested in when V2G becomes a more common marketing point on new cars, like @Everest mentioned, VW and also Renault I think.

V2G to be approved in Australia 2025

That's good news, appreciate your post. I think the Sigen V2G unit was about AU$7k from memory, which is still a bit too high for my use case, but the numbers almost stack up considering you gain access to at least 50 kWh battery compared to a typical home battery size of 10-16 kWh. It will be...

Charging Flap / Door not opening

I've had the same problem, and temperatures here rarely drop below 6°C, so it seems like a possible common fault. Like others have said, I've found pressing on the flap in random places while simultaneously locking and unlocking the car multiple times with the remote will eventually free it up.

V2G to be approved in Australia 2025

This seems on topic, since it uses DC output, I wonder what the chances are that the MG4 will be added to the list in future?

V2G to be approved in Australia 2025

Thanks wattmatters, that's good advice. The Synergy time of day plan was pretty bad for my current situation (solar only), but once I have the battery, it's definitely worth looking into again.

V2G to be approved in Australia 2025

Totally agree, you'd want to read the fine print on any virtual power plant (VPP) conditions attached to a new battery install. I've no objection to emergency grid stabilisation use, but any other draw down by power companies needs to be either within the owners control, or rewarded at market...

V2G to be approved in Australia 2025

I'm also closely watching this since here in WA we should be able to apply for both state and federal rebates, meaning potentially $5k off plus 30% off (though it's not yet clear if the 30% off will be before or after WA rebate). Problem is most existing solar only installations will likely...

    MG4 in Australia

How was your experience charging in Busselton? It always struck me as odd it has only one charger considering it's a popular destination. I've done Perth to Bunbury in my 51, similar results to you, no anxiety on range, and Bunbury has heaps of charging options (I used the RAC/Chargefox - a...

    Imagine this!

Thanks for the detailed description. I was more interested in knowing as it's the first step before removing the seat backs also (which seem a bit heavier). As you said, probably not going to make a significant difference, but handy to know the process. 👍

    Imagine this!

Talking weight reduction (always the best option to improve performance IMHO), has anyone tried removing the rear seats? The workshop procedure says to remove the two clips under the seat base (item 1 in the image) which is a bit vague and when I took a look, I couldn't see them so didn't want...

    TPMS on new alloy wheels

If it helps anyone, I got this cheap set from AliExpress and successfully cloned the factory wheel TPMS for replacement wheels. It includes the programming/cloning tool (which only required an Android app to use) and the 4 sensors. THINKCAR THINKTPMS G2 TPMS Car Tire Pressure Diagnostic Tool...

V2G to be approved in Australia 2025

Thanks, I was aware of those plans, but ran the numbers based on my time of day usage, and even though I load shift everything I can into daytime, they both work out more expensive for me. This is mainly thanks to them slugging us with a higher daily fee, and very high evening usage charges...

V2G to be approved in Australia 2025

That's really promising, good to know the MG4 is capable at least, thanks for the link. Hopefully some competition in this space will eventually lead to lower priced options for the home.

V2G to be approved in Australia 2025

True, it's more likely something to look out for in the MG4 MK2 :) The AC connector can happily manage 7kW (on the Excite), though I think the official V2L output is lower than that. Even having access to just 2kW peak V2X would offset most of my evening load, even with the home A/C running...

V2G to be approved in Australia 2025

On the back of some surprisingly progressive news here about the V2G standard to be approved in Australia, what are everyone's thoughts about the future possibilities for the MG4...
