I have similar issues. My dash cam is wired into the cigeratte lighter. Get in the car and sit down it powers up normally. Press the brake peddle the power is briefly interrupted and it shuts down. I just have to reseat it and it comes alive again

I’ve never operated the handbrake switch. Never any need. Just leave it alone.
