Public charging routine in a nutshell

On my MG4, unlocking the car pauses AC charging for about 30 seconds, then resumes. It's not obvious that the charge is paused from the car display. During the pause, the cable is unlocked, abd relocks when charging resumes. I assume that this behaviour would be similar on other MG EV models. I...

    Low voltage battery discharging

On my MG4, with A/C always on, "aux mode" actually has the contractors on so that the A/C is operating as soon as weight is detected on the driver's seat. This brings the DC-DC on, so you always see the DC-DC voltage, not the auxiliary battery under load.

    Three Months In An S5

I didn't think that a lead acid battery would retain 13.9V overnight. If you leave the bonnet unlocked and watch the auxiliary battery voltage, what happens to the voltage when you lock the car (it will probably beep the horn briefly)? In my experience, it should slowly (over half an hour or...

    Low voltage battery discharging

I'm pretty sure that the warning means that the DC-DC isn't working. It's easy to check: is the auxiliary battery voltage about 14V when in ready mode? If not, the DC-DC part of the Combined Charging Unit (CCU) isn't working. Early (and not so early?) ZS EVs have had problems with this unit...

    New S5 Owner checking in

No, 11kW requires three phase, your house probably doesn't have three phase, and your car probably doesn't have an 11kW on-board charger. Plus, the 7kW and 11kW options come with a different plug at the mains end (click on those options to see the image change). Assuming that you don't have a...

    I don't understand either. But it's a personal thing.

    ZS used pricing

Most of these will have an EVCC that won't support Tesla supercharging. Make sure that it has had the "comfort" software/firmware updates, as the original software apparently had bings and bongs galore, as well as many glitches. It doesn't have a facility for charging to 80%, at least the...

A few things about the IM5

The MG4 commonly has rattles from the boot, although something rolling might be different. For example, this post says "adjusting the rubber bump stops on the side of the hatch opening can help."

    MG4 in Australia

You might have read about it on the Australian Electric Vehicle Association forum: https://forums.aeva.asn.au/viewtopic.php?t=9556

Total loss of external lights whilst driving in the dark! - 12 volt battery failure indicator

No. But I did have the 12 V battery die while the car was parked in my carport. There was a related trouble code, U1563(16), "The battery voltage less than 9V is detected" (along with a dozen others; they all cleared). My guess is that there is some sort of firmware glitch that occasionally...

    Cyberster - 1-year service

Yes, they neglected to reset the service counter. It's in the engineering menu, if you want to do it yourself, and chase down the secret sequence to get into that menu. The worry is of course what else did they overlook or forget?

    charging Cable

I don't think so. I assume that the EVSE doesn't care about balance. Though I suppose it has to be aware of the power delivered by each phase, as it has to debit the account accurately (accurate charge for the charge, so to speak).

Help - No Charging on Granny Charger

I assume you mean DC rapid charging kept you going. Did it suddenly stop AC charging, or did it never AC charge from new?

Can there ever be enough DC chargers?

Moderators can see deleted posts, and I don't see any in this thread. Any image hosting site should be ok. It's the other kinds of links, especially to web pages, that we need to be able to check easily. But image hosting sites have a terrible record of losing the images after a short time...

    Public Charging MGS5

Did you mean 11kW instead of 22kW? If you are only getting 3.4kW from a 22kW AC "charger", then you could have a 16A cable. For a car with a 7kW charger, you should have a 32A cable. Hopefully that is what was supplied. Edit: To check your cable's current capacity, see for example this post...
