    The Tesla full self-driving thread

They are talking about integrating Grok (Tesla's equivalent of ChatGPT); that might allow it to explain itself. But I have definite reservations. I do think that the current crop of machine learning is totally amazing; it performs way better than I thought it would. But it has a definite...

    New MG3 Hybrid+

I'm pretty sure that any hybrid (mild or not, plug-in or not) has to have an electric motor. Otherwise, how can it improve fuel economy? Even a 2000 Prius has a motor, in fact Prii have two motor/generators.

    New MG3 Hybrid+

At the end of every episode of EV News Daily, the announcer says (or used to say years ago when I still listened regularly) "And remember, there is no such thing as a "self driving hybrid!". Maybe it was "self charging", I can't recall now. I agree with the announcer that it makes the car...

    New MG3 Hybrid+

That sounds like a Toyota Prius kind of number. Like 2003 Prius, if feeble memory serves. Perhaps that's what came to mind?

    High pitched whine over 60mph

Oh. That does sound like it's motor or motor controller related. It might be the onset of field weakening, though I thought that typically came on at very roughly 60 km/h (under 40 mph). The MG4, being built from the ground up, might have a different motor to earlier models. If that's the...

    Solaredge charger issues

Do you mean two current transformers (i.e. sensors)?

    Which at home charger?

It is if you can get 7.5p per kWh. Those penny-ha'pennies add up you know :) Halfpenny (Wikipedia) I believe that it's a fixed period of time per day. Whereas the intelligent version typically has other periods outside these fixed ones when the tariff is also cheaper. Obviously, that's when...

    High pitched whine over 60mph

Thanks for the alert. I've moved it to the MG4 forum. Edit: @Chris Bronsdon, you may care to compare your high pitched whine to the vibration reported by some MG4 XPower owners. It's possible that both issues are due to the tyres developing a flat spot from standing still in transport from...

    Soh after 20k miles

Resuming that it meets our modest range needs, yes.

    Soh after 20k miles

I've noticed a tendency to regard the term "lithium ion" as referring only to the higher voltage chemistries such as NMC, NCA, LMO etc, and not the lower voltage chemistries like LFP and LTO (the latter standing for Lithium Titanate, a nominally 2.4V chemistry). But they all move lithium ions...

    Soh after 20k miles

Yes. I bought my ZS EV before LFP was available from MG, and I'm not in a financial position to update for a while. But if and when I do, an LFP battery will be highly favoured.

YouTube comment about MG4 battery management, LFP vs NMC

Wow, after 10 years! It seems that the Coda came with an AGM auxiliary battery as standard, which seem to be better able to handle this sort of neglect.

    Sleeping in MG4 [merged thread]

Does the eZS app work to turn off MG4 daylight running lights?

    Soh after 20k miles

    I would.

    11kW Cable

Yes. The 22kW cable will cover all future vehicles, but it will cost more, and is quite heavy and bulky. I'd suggest the single phase 32A (7kW) cable.
