Have you noticed fuel prices going up

Average diesel price for regular diesel is $3.20AUD here at the moment, and that is with the 65cents fuel levy reduction, £2 = $3.80AUD, without the 65 cent reduction in the govt tax we would be paying 5 cents/ltr more, I'm interested to see what the prices outside the more population spots when we hit the road on Monday .... certainly glad I don't own a diesel motorhome .... well, I do, but it remains in the front yard waiting for rust removal before it goes on the market .....

There was an item on BBC Look North East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire yesterday which showed a petrol station on the coast with diesel at £2.03 per litre!

I occasionally glance at fuel prices at garages as I hum past and they are certainly rising sharply.

In the South of Ireland where fuel prices were already higher than with us in the North there have been a series of protests daily by hauliers and farmers which have caused chaos on the roads and motorways, virtually bring areas to a standstill but they seem to have had an effect with the Irish government announcing a €505m package in fuel cost savings.

Up here we are due to see similar fuel protests taking place today at 2pm, however while the Southern protestors had a list of measures they wanted to see, our lot haven't decided what they actually want so this should be fun. :)

While the UK gov have a fixed rate of fuel duty which is currently set at 47.9p per litre ( 5p cut applied this month) for petrol and diesel they also apply vat so are benefiting significantly with these price rises.

It's £2.019 at Annandale Water service station, but that is on the motorway.

Well, the price of fuel has resulted in our annual get together at Taggerty to be cancelled this yr, seems out of the 20 plus rigs that normally attend, only 4, including us, were willing to risk the fuel situation.
To add to the problem, one of two remaining oil refineries went up in smoke yesterday, so we can't even look at refining our own oil reserves to supplement the supply .....

Friend for way back, now living in country Victoria near the NSW border, was saying diesel was very close to the $4ltr out there now, so it's even more expensive than the UK in places over here, and still climbing .....

An update on the Gelong refinery fire. It supplies 50% of Victoria's fuel and is the major source for LPG, great  After spending all that time and money on getting the LPG tanks recertified, if this forces the price of LPG to skyrocket and result in it becoming even harder to find, I might better off just removing the system entirely, that will make getting registration inspections easier at least ....

Time to get serious about this hybrid EV upgrade me thinks and replan the upgrade to become a range extender type hybrid ......

There is also the Lytton refinery in Brisbane, that so far hasn't caught fire. Though the month isn't over yet... 😜

But I think that these two refineries only supply about 20% of Australia's refined fuel. The rest comes from refineries overseas, mainly Asia. The other six or so refineries could not compete with Asia, so now they are either closed down or converted into ports.

Globalisation is great when it works. But now... 🤔

Has Trumpety Trump started bombing Australia now so he can drive up oil prices there even more ?

Has Trumpety Trump stated bombing Australia now so he can drive up oil prices there even more ?
I don't think he needed to, seems these things catch on fire, all by themselves ..... but only the part that processes the least profitable products, LPG and Opal fuel for the outback communities to reduce petrol sniffing ...... but maybe I'm being a tad cynical, those in big business or even medium size businesses don't do things like that, do they

They supply their own fuel station networks mostly, OTR, Liberty, Shell and Reddy Express, formally Coles Express, as well as their partner group, Westside Petroleum .....
