I've been under my MG5 and although I didn't pay particular attention, there was some very light surface corrosion on the front subframes and suspension components but nothing I'd say is much different from a three year old car of Asian extraction in Scotland. With that said, other Asian cars...
Hi folks,
I'll stop short of calling this a proper guide, but I've successfully used the SAIC SIPS program and clone VDI3 tool to program a new key for my pre-FL MG5, I thought it may be useful for others.
This was the key I bought for my 72 plate pre facelift long range Exclusive, I don't...
In terms of confirming the pack as a long range one you can look under the car behind the front wheel on the passenger side for this label. EU174A61S, or a similar number with "61" in it indicates the big battery.
Not just yet sorry, got a couple of other bits and bobs to do, need to program a new key and then do the same for my dad who has a Maxus van.
Would recommend the AliExpress item shared previously, arrived in one week.
Cheers again for the detailed write up @xblackwolf90 , I carried out the update on my pre FL LR and was able to test it tonight, worked perfectly.
Always good to have more charging options!
I would argue the MG5 isn't a particularly complicated machine, it is all extremely conventional apart from the powerplant, which is effectively maintenance free anyway. I've only really dug into the front suspension but it is all extremely recognisable as lightly modified 20+ year old...
For anyone else who finds themselves in a similar warranty situation with unhelpful dealers who try to fob you off due to missed or late services... From the MG Warranty Statement:
“The vehicle has not suffered from neglect, improper repair, or improper use, and has been properly cleaned...
Do appreciate they're busy, I just got the sense I was being fobbed off, there was no acknowledgement/recognition of the issue.
I suppose warranty work isn't profitable, more money in doing servicing and discs and pads.
Anyway, my handiwork was up to snuff at least.
Hopefully trouble free...
Went a big run in my MG5 LR last weekend. This was the rough route:
Left home with a full charge and charged once, for 28 minutes at a Gridserve rapid to 70%. These were the final scores on the doors:
This taking it really easy but not holding anyone up by any means, it wasn't particularly...
@xblackwolf90, that's great that it worked well for you, like you say anything to avoid lining the dealer's pockets for ten minutes work!
Would you mind sharing the link for the diagnostic interface you bought? Just in my experience buying copies of other marques equivalent the quality can be...
Thanks Salty, sorry for my first post to be slightly negative!
Just to add, the arms look a lot like those fitted to MK4/5 Golf era VAG cars, not sure if there are any which would be a direct fit.
13, 15 and 18mm sockets, spanners variously, some extensions and a torque wrench are about all...
Hi folks,
Hate for my first post on the forum to be a moan, but it is. I have a 72 plate MG5 Long Range Exclusive with 17k on the clock, it's my second EV, I had a 41kWh Zoe and bought this MG privately as a replacement in June. Have since done 5k miles in it, really enjoying it and sang its...
