Further update following my letter in which I firmly and factually stated my position. I had a reply this morning stating their surprise at the content. They wanted to confirm they are aware of the act and were not being underhand and simply proposing a way forward. I had offered them two...
Thanks. I've sent another formal letter based on legal fact, pointing out that it is irrelevant how potentially simple it is to fix (despite MG having not seen the problem), there is still a fault, acknowledged by them within the first 30 days of ownership and I'm exercising my legal right to...
Another update. The dealer is now disputing that not being able to charge on AC is a significant fault as MG think it could just be a simple software update to fix. Please do correct me if I'm wrong, but regardless of what the potential fix might be, not being able to charge at home is a...
That's exactly my thought. Who knows what MG will find and then how long it will take to sort out. They obviously want to do what is easiest and cosy effective for them, but that does me absolutely no good at all.
A further update. I gave the dealer access to the app to further their diagnostic two days ago. They said it had connected to charge and they would keep me updated. I heard nothing yesterday so asked for an update in writing. They came back today saying it was booked in with MG on 22/12. No...
What do people think is the better buy: a 24 plate SE LR which has done 9,000 miles or a 73 plate Trophy that's done 18500 miles. Both just about the same price?
Further update. After my letter last night pointing out that a diagnostic they requested to run did not constitute a repair and how providing a courtesy has no legal connection to my right to reject they have rowed back a tad. They haven't agreed yet but have said that before agreeing to...

Thank you
I am replying to the dealer emphasising how them asking to run diagnostics on the car is not agreeing to a repair (also they have no idea what repair might be needed) and how authorising a courtesy car again has no legal bearing to my right to reject.
Cheers.
Also to add, they don't know exactly what the issue and MG will need to do a further diagnostic. This still isn't a repair. How can I have agreed to a repair without them knowing what is causing the issue? Am they have confirmed is that there is an issue.
Okay update here. I officially rejected the car today. The dealer said under the act I have the option of the car being rejected, replaced or repair. They say because I booked it in to be investigated properly and because I took a courtesy car whilst they did so I have chosen the repair option...
It's definitely a standard range.
Considering the issues, would people still consider getting another MG4? Would you replace it with a LR, particularly if it was an updated version (24 plate)? Or would you think too many issues, let's move on? I do really like them as a car and they are great...
Thanks for the info. Rolfe. I suppose it comes down to the fact that there is a problem and it can't be seen for another three weeks before there's even the possibility of a fix. I'd have to continually rapid charge the car, which just seems crazy when I've got a home charger. Then who knows...
Thanks for the advice. No. I purchased the car outright, although I may have paid a £99 reservation fee on a credit card. The sellers have confirmed there is an issue they can't pinpoint, so hence them saying it needs to go to MG. It's currently witth them so leaving it with them wouldn't be...
Thanks for the advice. It's also annoying that they said you can pick it up and basically deal with the issue for three weeks until MG can have a look. And then, who knows what will be needed to sort it out and how long it would take. I like the car, but I am thinking I should cut my losses...
Sorry, I meant time from rejecting it to getting them to accept the rejection. They seem to think it will be rectified through a software update but the fact they say it needs to go to MG is surely an acknowledgement that the car is not fit for purpose at this current time.
Ah, sorry. Just...
Hello all.
I'm new to EVs and been on this forum for a few short days. Great to be here! I purchased a 23 plate SE standard range on 9th November from a non MG dealer. It is not a refreshed version and the AC charging just doesn't work, although DC does (for now). I've also received many...
