I suspect you are right that MG are the problem and not your dealer. I too am waiting for a replacement T-Box. My dealer thought MG would deliver to them "in less than a week"; 3 weeks later they are still waiting! Apparently, the dealer also has another car in the workshop similarly waiting...

But, according to their website The Vchrgd Seven has built-in earthing protection, which avoids the need for an earth rod to be installed at your property. So the lack of an existing earthing rod should not be a problem for you.
