£214 for one shock absorber is a bit steep, i don`t think even the main stealer will charge anymore ?

Interested to know what online source you are using? £60 a pair is ok, if they were Skoda/VW they would be l approx £ 30 a pair. Very easy job to change should be less than 1 hour to do both. Good luck (I had better order a pair for my 5 year old MG5)
