To my simple mind I wonder if there is a poor connection on the output of the Battery to the motor?
May be a bad connector or cable crimp that has a bit of resistance, after 4 -5 mins use it gets a bit hot resistance increases and send the system into alarm ? Interesting to find out if this...
Looks a bit like a stealership to me.
Those discs look pretty reasonable to me and I am always keen to ensure my brakes are A1
I would recommend that you spend a few days with Kers set at one and drive around being a bit heavy on the brakes, this treatment I am sure will clean up the disc...
Hi
I am very sorry and suprised to hear about your issue. I would hold your ground, I would assume that at all the subsequent services the battery performance was checked and found to be perfectly ok. The mode of failure you describe was rather sudden and points to some form of component failure...
Great post
while my door catch is still working at 4.25 years I think I shall order the part and keep it in stock for when failure occurs.
To date the car has been 100% reliable except for early problem with footwash (rear screen washer pipe coming of in extreme cold)
Hi
I carry a small back up battery which is like having a jumpstart, bit like a mobile phone back up battery loads advertised on ebay and amazon (well worth having) about £20 -30
Like most manufactures the MG warranty after 3 years covers less and less. The main item covered is the battery and a few other components.
I have had my MG5 for over 4 years and it has been faultless, The only thing that you may notice is that the service charge for year 3 and year 4 will be a...
Just had my MG5 in for its latest service (4 years) I note that the transmission oil was changed Shell sl2808 1 the cost was £33.86 for the oil.
Yet again the brake fluid was changed! I know the stuffs hydroscopic and Wales is a bit wet but the frequency of change is a bit OTT ! Particiulaly a...
The other week I was reviewing insurances for prospective new car (toy) Saga quoted £290 for an Aston Martin DB9 Volante (2008) 3K annual miles Thought quite good? The MG 5 is about £205 per year with 6K annual miles. (fixed for 3 years). Fortunately West Wales is not too high risk.
It was freezing fluid in my case. The fluid was frozen solid ! At the time we had had a few days below -10 deg C.
I did not use the car until it warmed up and the pipe had become disconnected, so I had the "footwash" when I first used the rear wiper
No garage in the UK is sensible enough to put...
Part of the misting is a build up of water vapour in the car from wet feet, damp clothes etc.
I always put a couple of dehuminifier blocks in the door pocket of my MG5. At this time of year they fill up with water within 4 weeks . This cures the problems for me.
It is very important to always...
I purchased my MG5 exclusive new but as a demonstrator with 4 miles on the clock! nearly 4 years ago for under £23K , I have been offered a Trophy 5EV LR with delivery mileage of 100 and it will cost about £11k to do the deal? Its what it costs to make the change that counts I reckon the loss...
Probably too many controls on the f$%^%&*$ touch screen ! stars are lost for very odd reasons these days. All we want is a car that protects us in a crash!
Thats why I like my old MG5 (lots of buttons and switchesin the ight place!).
Well here in sunny West Wales we have exceeded January 2024 generation figures and the days not finished Jan 2024 was 168kWh Jan 2025 is 171kWh and rising so it is a good and encouraging start to the year. Hopefully we will be on target for 5.49MWh like 2023 ?
