Yes, I did think that it might be the cold, but when I tried to turn on the battery heating it said that it was warm enough. It had been driven for a few hours so I guess it was warmed up.

Further searching. Seems like this type of brake disc (Febi 104496) is used by other car makers, including Ford, Aldi, Skoda & VW. One site, autodoc [1] states that it is compatible with

A search on Febi Bilstein [1] gives part numbers Febi 104496 and Febi 196403 for discs & pads respectvely. (BluePrint ADV184375 & ADBP420180 are also given as a match). Complete set (both sides) are about £80, which is about what I paid for a Skoda Yeti.

Just found on another MG forum, that you just need to reset the service.
1 - press middle button on right of steering wheel
2 - press joystick right until you can see "next service"
3 - press down to get to "next service" then press joystick button
4 - hold down joystick button until next...
