At last, a very high mileage ZS EV under the microscpe

Re battery health, my last service of 020 mk1 ZS EV battery check came up with 90%. After a full charge and balancing, my GOM says I have 144 miles in the tank..(!) If I remember correctly, when the car was new, the GOM told me I had 165 miles left. Thus. 144/165 equates to about 87% of the...

    Failed CCS charge help

Chargers are not always reliable. Recently, at South Mimms service station on the M25, I had to try four chargers before I found one that worked. Sad to see that several had been vandalised...

Amazing battery efficiency on my 3 year old ZS LR

On warm days and local runs, I too get 4+ Kw/mile. But on the motorway, I still get 3.5 odd, but the GOM is way out on the range, even when using the Normal setting...

The Time Has Come..... (public charging)

These days, the charging system works pretty robustly. In the old days, you had to stand on one leg with a rolled Daily Telegraph under your arm... Joking aside, Most just plug in and play. Some you do have to use the credit card before plugging in, but even then they seem to charge OK. The...

How to check Battery life on the ZS EV mk1?

Thanks for that... Yes I normally balance the battery every couple of weeks or so. This run yesterday, some 300 miles from Norfolk to Wales was after several days of rapid charges. The car is 4 1/2 years old with some 46500 miles on it, and these low mileage runs were on motorways...

How to check Battery life on the ZS EV mk1?

Is there an OBD thing for this car? Recent mileages indicate the battery capacity is low, maybe 80 miles per charge.... If I can check it, I can see if the battery warranty will kick in...

    Octopus Go Fixed.

I have just received an email from Octopus, asking if I want to sign up to this new tariff. Octopus Go Fixed. will fix my overnight charging costs to 8.5p, and get a cheaper day rate than you’re currently paying. No mention of the day rate cost. There is a £25 exit fee. Tempted, what can go...

Things learnt so far on our Spanish adventure

Kinda putting off using the EV in Spain and Portugal. My 4 year old ZS EV, with a maybe a150 mile range would test the system too much.. Might buy a small diesel for the trip, and sell again when home...:(

How long should the 12 volt, battery last ?

I had to change my 12v battery after 4 years or so. ZS EV CV70. I suspect the EO Charger might have something to do with it, by leaving the car switched for a long period, The Charger went *its up at the same time. MG dealer charged me £200+ for a replacement...

    ZS EV camera quality

I always thouht the image quality of the camera was grim. Then I cleaned the lens, it seems to have some sort of coating on it. Once cleaned properly, the IQ is OK. Matches the Aygo I had as a courtesy car...:)

SOH @ 86.7% at second service

My 4 year old ZS EV, 1st gen, is down to 90% after 38,000 miles. Dealer says to balance the battery using the granny charger?? Latest Gom indicates about a 130 mile range at these winter temperatures, so I guess that's good enough for me. I will have to see what the summer brings..

    Tomato Energy

Wow, some savings. It's Gas central heating that eats up my money, at this time of year. Is Tomato very much cheaper there...?

    Mileage range on full charge

My ZS EV Gen 1 (Nov 20) is only doing maybe 100+ miles in this cold weather. Recent service says the battery is down to 90% capacity after 39,000 miles. I'll see what summer brings, and maybe upgrade the car. TBH, it does what I want and need, I rarely go on long trips, in the winter...

Almost knocked down a pedestrian on Christmas Eve

I would have thought there is also a need for the pedestrian to be observant, and not just blindly walk forward here. But, it is always then car drivers fault certainly where cyclists are concerned...
