First real long-range journey in my MG5 LR ... Some observations

Hi Tommy, nice write up, I have the standard range. Tips for long journeys is keep 40 miles extra in range than your destination, eats more on the motorway than around town. Next one is download zapmap and preplan stops, it's a pretty useful app just to find chargers and usually there are...

    Podpoint scheduled charging

Ok, I'll see if uk power has got me back onto mains yet. Think they are fixing something so running off a generator which isn't enough to charge the car through point.

    Podpoint scheduled charging

Evening all, noticed on the podpoint app you can now do scheduling. Does this work with the mg5 as I tend to get back around 8pm and plug it straight in, although my cheaper rate starts at midnight. Would be useful to know if anyone had tried. I'll give it a go tomorrow evening if I remember

    High Miles?

Just ticked over 18,000 miles had one of the first ones delivered in December. No issues so far, tyres are getting low but will doing 450 miles a week on motorway they're going to be. Have seen 5-6 in London as taxis.

    First service at 15k

That's a cheap service, had mine done a month back for £188 at Glyn Hopkins Chelmsford. Also when they said they "washed the car" just smeared round the crap from the bottom to the top.. again no time to complain and get it sorted. Next time will request they don't wash it.

How low can (will) you go with your charge level?

I've done a commute in winter, got down to 3% when I got home. I had 40 miles of range more than the journey, driving at 60 all the way home, so my buffer is always have 40 miles range more than your journey. I think 195 is cutting it too close for round trip

    Great economy 228 mile range

Yep, just needed enough to get back home but was having lunch anyway so plugged in till I finished and loaned up 60ish %. Still too expensive. The reason I needed to go to leeds was to purchase a dirty diesel! 🤣

    Great economy 228 mile range

Stupid price but had no option. Gridserve is pretty good.

    Great economy 228 mile range

Stopped at Peterborough there and back, there's 2 gridserve chargers at 30p and on the way back had to use ionity, 70p kW! Cost 25 quid to charge from 20 to 85ish. Cruising at 70 seems to be best for timing and mileage, returned 3.7 over the whole trip

    Great economy 228 mile range

Stopped at Peterborough, had 63% left filled to 100 then 120 miles to Leeds had 43% left. Just topping up now and will see how I get on tomorrow on the way back. Pretty good going I think

    Great economy 228 mile range

🤦, yes it would, first leg to Peterborough is 90 miles, will full charge then 120 to my hotel, will try this at 70 and see how I get, should be easily doable, just don't want to get stuck!

    Great economy 228 mile range

That is impressive, I've got a 220 trip upto Leeds tomorrow but will have to put the hammer down a bit so 2 charging stations on the way.

Who has done the most miles?

Seem ok, pressure is holding well. I think when I do get a chance I'll swap and switch sides over. Should easily get 30k miles from a set of new tyres. Upto Leeds from Colchester tomorrow 220 miles so have planned a stop at Peterborough and just before Doncaster. Driving at my usual speed...

First Problem - Boot won't lock

Happens to me most times, just have to open and shut firmly from a close distance not fully open.

Who has done the most miles?

11,000 miles in 6 months, no issues, drive 100 miles motorway and 30 in London most days. As the weather is getting hotter the range is improving alot. Winter I was down to 25% After a return journey, now have 40% remaining and that's normal driving not ev style!
