When you say CarPlay, are you referring to a Carlinkit device or a smartphone? If it's a Carlinkit, there's a delay in the settings so it starts shortly after the vehicle; if so, it's usually set to around 16 or 18 seconds.

I tried an 8GB USB drive formatted in FAT32 and the same thing happens, it complains about too many files. I noticed that when I extract the .zip file, a message appears saying to overwrite F:\Tbox_MPU\root\full\usr\lib\xtables\libxt_DSCP.so, which varies by a few bits. I'm missing something...
