Had my recall fix done earlier today. My dealership advised me that MG have now run out of the seat repair kits which are now on back order. No estimate of when further supplies would arrive.

My dealer said half an hour, maximum one hour. However a "while you wait slot" has been allocated which is 2.5 hours.

The fact that MG are implementing a fix (for new vehicles only!) suggests this is more than a one off failure and that some sort of redesign or strengthening is indeed required.

I don't think anybody pays the RRP for a vehicle, so depreciation is a lot less when you compare the actual price paid after haggling, or in my case the affinity programme pricing, to the trade in price.

I suppose it's too much to ask that they combine this fix with the NCAP failure fix!

Unlucky that the one month window for rejecting the car would appear to have gone by just a day or so. However you can still reject the car within a 6 month window of purchase for major faults/defects. You get a full refund minus an agreed, reasonable, reduction for mileage driven.

That applies only to the seat fixture. The airbag problem is not being addressed until October.

If DVSA get involved and they deem the fault serious enough then they force a recall and fix.
