In simple terms you can't, apart from checking the infotainment version Rxx. All other modules can only be checked with specialist equipment.

Once you get the USB disk identification failure message holding down the home button has no effect and you need to fully disconnect the battery to sort it. I tried the home button reset and it just reboots into the frozen state every time.

That is only the infotainment version. All other modules that they (may have) updated are not visible to the user. R13 is fairly old and my issue with that was no audio instructions when using Android Auto for navigation while listening to the radio which was corrected on R33
