Should I push for a software update?

I went through this 2 weeks ago when my 1 year old SE LR went for its first service. I asked on several occasions for the latest software updates but the garage only did the LKA improvement (steering and braking software modules). The car is leased through Zenith….I don’t know whether that affects willingness?
I think this is definitely the case. My car is leased from Tusker, and so far, my experience of the MG dealerships near me is that they absolutely couldn’t care less about the issues I have with my Trophy. It’s shocking really. I can’t wait to hand this MG4 back, and I’ll never even consider getting an MG again. I’ve never known such a bad car.

My MG4 Trophy LR is three weeks old. Came with R33 and I think I recall seeing SCO77 in amongst the blurb somewhere. It's leased from Octopus so I'm not changing anything. Works OK.

Hello,

My son is in the process of purchasing a MG4 LR Exite version here in Ireland. I believe this might be the SE version in the UK. How can I check if this car has the latest software loaded? The car was first registered in the second half of 2023.

In simple terms you can't, apart from checking the infotainment version Rxx. All other modules can only be checked with specialist equipment.

The LR Excite is the SE LR in the UK. The very latest Info software for this model is SWI69-29958-1100R45 (there are links to this software on this forum, and it can be applied via USB), but I'd expect the car have as a minimum 1100R33. This you can easily check in the System menu of the car.

But as @Tight Git says above, this is only part of the story.

Have you had the SC077 software update for the LKA and have you asked your dealer to update the infotainment software mentioning the radio problem?
We bought the car at one year old from a local dealer. It had a fault with the passenger seat recliner which they agreed to repair under warranty. Whilst waiting for replacement parts I noticed the general infotainment glitches, the Bluetooth problems, and the LKA (which, to my mind, is downright dangerous). These I mentioned to the dealer and they said they'd get a software update done at same time as fixing the seat.

I don't know what SC077 is or whether that is/was what's on the car but if they've done the update it's not improved it. It's due a service in a few months time so I'll mention it again beforehand and see what they say. By the way, it's a 2023 Trophy.

I bought a 73 Extended Range and also got Radio drop outs from the start. The garage I bought it from had the car in 5 times. They updated the radio software twice, the general infotainment once and lastly they exchanged infotainment hardware (they were surprised that MG sanctioned this - I guess due the problem was there from the word go) . This last cured the problem. It also made the car drive much better. Now the steering doesn't jerk when crossing white line just a polite noise and a gentle nudge of the wheel. The cruise control operates differently, increases by 1 mph not 5 and nudge up the wheel control and if you're not engaged it will re-engage it. Altogether a much more pleasant experience.
