Public charging routine in a nutshell

That's a very useful tip. I haven't seen that mentioned before, so thanks.

Public charging routine in a nutshell

Interesting reply. I'm sure in my test the charge didn't start until I locked the door. I wonder if CCS and type 2 systems gave different requirements. There are both types of charger at the local pub so I might have to venture out for a quick christmas eve half tomorrow.

Public charging routine in a nutshell

OK, to some of you wise old owls this post may appear as a little 'basic', and bits and pieces have been discussed recently elsewhere so I may be in threat of duplication, but can we please develop some sort some sort of a Public Charging Routine for newbies specific to the S5 and pin it...

    Straight line stability

Stability is fine as far as I'm concerned. My previous Renault Gran Scenic was far more susceptible to cross winds but, in its defence, it was a lot bigger car . I can't find fault with the S5 handling in any shape or form. I was wondering the other day if it was the rear wheel drive that made...

    Straight line stability

Ah! But genuine question from 11 YO grandson a few days ago. "Grandad..... when you fill up a petrol tank the car gets heavier. So, does the car get heavier when you fill up the battery?" I hate smartarse kids. Any scientists out there?

    Passenger window failure

This has brought back memories of my step father used to have an Aunstin Princess (?) in the 70s. It had a rather distinctive wedge shape and was considered large in its day, also thirsty as hell as I recall.

    Interrelated UI Questions

I agree. If I'd had this car when I was 19, and a real boy racer, I very much doubt that I would have made it to 20. 😅🤣🤣

    Dangerous Adaptive cruise control

In the Merry Xmas thread I said that the S5 is a lovely car to drive, but the software is often flaky. "Flaky," is where the radio turns on automatically some times, but not others; where the info screen turns on instantly some times, but takes a minute to boot up at others; where you get a...

    Merry Xmas MGS5

All this talk about external arials reminds me of the early 70's when it was standard practice among 'enthusiasts' to drill a hole in the wing and install an 8 ft fibre glass whip and pin it back to the roof gutter. If I thought there was a standard antenna connection in the back of the S5...

    Merry Xmas MGS5

Same here, i wasn't convinced about the steering wheel when I had a test drive, but after 5 months of ownership it now feels very natural. In fact I find that the steering is generally one of the aspects I like most about the car. It has a very tight turning circle and, for me, the turning ratio...

    Speed recognition can't be disabled

I wonder if anyone actually drives with the "pay attention" and "take a break" features active. I forgot to apply MG Pilot one morning last week and it drove me nuts, just on the half mile trip to the supermarket

The Ultimate MGS5 "Real World" Energy Consumption Thread

Here's mine for November. 95% urban use ferrying grandkids. Always use OPD, AC on auto 21C, and NORMAL mode (except on one occassion when a yoof in an Astra with a baked bean can exhaust started giving me the bad eye at a set of traffic lights.... whereupon I must admit I thought it only right...
