Cheap £1.69 Fix for Missing MG5 Charge‑Port Locking Pin

Amazing, thanks! I lost the rubber 'sleeve' off mine a few weeks back and the pin now falls out half the time I open the cover. I'll get one ordered to replace mine.

    MG5 Instavolt charging problems.

I've found locking the car immediately on plug in also helps massively in getting a charge started. Once you've had a charge fail to start, there's no way of getting a charge going without powering off the car and leaving it for five minutes.

[Guide] DIY Tesla Compatibility Update for MG5

The CCU update is also useful in my experience as I've noticed better reliability when starting a charging session on other chargers.

    MG5 SW 2022 chargin issues

To get the highest charging speeds, you need to be starting the charging session at less than 20 percent SOC in warmer temperatures. Starting at a higher charge percent, particularly in the cold, will yield relatively slow charge rates. Mine also makes a racket when reversing when it has been...

    MG5 Instavolt charging problems.

I've enabled it and charging speeds were still around 40kW in the cold, although my SOC was a little high so full speeds weren't to be expected.

    MG5 Instavolt charging problems.

Battery Heating is available in the vehicle settings. It will use additional battery charge to heat it prior to arrival at a charging station.

    MG5 Instavolt charging problems.

Starting at a higher SOC has a huge impact on the maximum charge speed you'll achieve, even in ideal weather conditions. Starting between 10-20% with a pre conditioned battery will get you the fastest speeds. Particularly at 50% or higher, you will be lucky to pass 40kW. My last stop was at a...

    MG5 Instavolt charging problems.

What's your battery SOC at time of plugging in? From experience, plugging in at 30% in this cold weather yields under 40kW charge rate. Around 10%, mine maxes out around 55 kW in the cold.

    "vehicle not responding" in app

My FL MG5 has started with the same issue, and it seems to happen on particularly cold days. A quick unlock/lock of the car gets the app working again. However, within an hour of parking up, it stops responding again. This is less of an issue at home, as I can unlock/lock the car with the...

    VOTE TESLA SUPERCHARGES with MG5

As frustrating as the whole Supercharger issue is, most main dealers for other brands I've used over the years don't seem to be much better for anything non-routine. A VW that would repeatedly stall when idling went to 3 dealers across 10 visits and never got resolved. Poor experiences with...

Newbie here - considering buying MG5 sub £10k

Long Range models are compatible, they just need a software update on the EVCC module only. Standard range depends on the physical EVCC module in the car. Info on those here (expect to pay £1000+ for a dealer replacement of this)...

    Tesla Supercharger Issue MG5 LR

My MG dealer said exactly the same to me, after they charged me for the update and it didn't work (they updated the CCU instead of the EVCC). I had to go though head office to get a refund and even then they were adamant that only the MG4 was compatible.

Why are motorway services fast chargers so unreliable?

If you get a 22kW cable, it will get you the maximum available charge rate on all charge points (7kW on 7kW charge points, and 11kW on 11 and 22 kW charge points). You will therefore only need to carry the one cable for all eventualities. If you get an 11kW cable, it will only provide 3.6 kW on...
