Yep! Restart PC after install (once this screen is shown) and you won't get this again 👍

[Guide] DIY Tesla Compatibility Update for MG5

I used to get 'Electrical Grid Abnormal' on the central infotainment display, and 'Charging Ceased' on the instrument cluster. The Tesla app would show that the charge never started. Check out the MG4 thread for other software update stories (many pages to scroll through). Many have had lots of...

[Guide] DIY Tesla Compatibility Update for MG5

Glad you got this update working in the end! I've updated my original post with updated guidance to use the older version of SIPS to avoid this cropping up again.

    Ohme charger short charging me

With dynamic charging enabled, what schedule do you get when you plug in? This should show time slots and amount to add. Alternatively, if your tariff just gives you fixed hours overnight for a reduced rate, it may be easier to turn off dynamic charging and just use a charging schedule instead...

[Guide] DIY Tesla Compatibility Update for MG5

I found the relevant information on this here: Post in thread 'Diagnostic VDI, VNCI, MDI with MG4' Diagnostic VDI, VNCI, MDI with MG4 Specifically, the attached indicates you need to log a report (photo advising of the -- error attached) and you'll instantly get a verification code to proceed...

So after 18 months, I finally work out how to dim the sat nav screen on Android

This is enabled on mine, but doesn't work correctly if auto-lights are enabled and the car is started in dark conditions. Auto lights need to be turned off, then back on again, for this to function as intended. If the car is started in light conditions, auto-switching to dark mode works correctly.

So after 18 months, I finally work out how to dim the sat nav screen on Android

I had this, and I'm pretty sure it's a software bug rather than intended behaviour. When you have auto-lights enabled, the standard infotainment system automatically switches to dark/light mode when the headlights switch on/off. If you start the car with your phone connected and the lights...

MG5 preFL long range new buyer check on SOH + Tesla

The dealer should be able to check in under a minute if the Tesla update has been applied, although a number of dealers are oblivious as to what this actually is. You can ask them to check that the EVCC module is up to date - that's the module that needs updating to be compatible with Tesla...

Why are motorway services fast chargers so unreliable?

Pre update, my charging port would not always automatically lock on rapid chargers. When starting a charging session before manually locking it, charging would often fail to start. Once one session failed, I could never get the charging to start without leaving the car powered off for several...

Why are motorway services fast chargers so unreliable?

My MG5 in particular seems to be particularly temperamental. Historically, if I started a rapid charge with the charging port unlocked, the charge failed and no amount of effort would get a subsequent charge to start. Powering off for 5 mins seemed to reset it. I have updated the EVCC and CCU...

[Guide] DIY Tesla Compatibility Update for MG5

Hi all, I wanted to put together a brief overview of the DIY method to get your MG5 working on Tesla Superchargers. The Issue By default, MG5s will not charge at open Tesla Superchargers. Facelift models will fail to connect and the central infotainment unit will display "Electrical Grid...

    Tesla Supercharger Issue MG5 LR

Seems to be, although I haven't attempted it myself. This thread has discussion about keys and has the guides I followed: https://www.mgevs.com/threads/diagnostic-vdi-vnci-mdi-with-mg4.17679/ New keys seem to be fine, but you can't re-program a second hand one.

    Tesla Supercharger Issue MG5 LR

Thanks! In my view, MG should be covering this under warranty. As they're not, I wouldn't expect a dealer to book me in just for this and do it for free as a standalone job. As a standalone booking in I wouldn't mind £50-£60 or so to cover the admin of booking in, doing the update, taking...

    Tesla Supercharger Issue MG5 LR

This is the one I sent for: https://a.aliexpress.com/_EvZPHRY I ordered last Saturday at about 10PM and it arrived today (Sunday) so only a week to get here. Tip: if you have a bank or credit card that has no foreign transaction fees, pay in USD and it's a bit cheaper. It's £114.53 paying in...
