I can't believe it's almost a year old .. time to look around for servicing. I am a little confused over the service schedule. Most advertise as 15000 miles increments where some have a annual low mileage service. Mine would fall in that as we won't have done 6k by then . However it is shocking to see others charging £150+ just to look around and top up the washer .
My first question is , is the service schedule yearly or 2 yearly in order to maintain the warranty?
Secondly, which dealers seems to offer the most reasonable costs?
Last year when I was doing research, I found this brown and gammons offering first service for £39. Now when I need it their site is indicating £75. Ok almost double but still cheaper than Glyn Hopkins. Anyone has any feedback on brown and gammons?

Who else are on recommendations? I am in Milton Keynes area.
Thanks a million 👍

Okay, so the first service is 12 months OR 15,000 miles, which ever arrives first !.
MG expects you to present your car for service checks every 12 months unless you are a high user case, which makes perfect sense.
So, clearly in your case you are going to hit the 12 month market before you get close to covering 15,000 miles in twelve months.
Not sure of the cut off for low mileage users cases in MG’s pricing structure, but at only 6,000 miles covered, you must be in that lower user area.
Prices will vary from location to location around the country.
This is standard practice on all manufacturers pricing structures.
A service in central London is going to be more expensive than a small dealer in a rural country area for sure !.
You may have to make a few phone calls.
Don’t forget, you will extend your full breakdown cover if you have your car serviced at a MG main dealer and also satisfy the requirement of the T&C’s of the 7 year warranty conditions.
First service is more of a “Health Check” and should not be too expensive.
Off set this with the full level breakdown cover and it’s a good deal IMHO.
The second service at two years is a little more expensive because it calls for a cabin filter replacement if I remember correctly.
But again, not stupid expensive!.

I've 36 month service tomorrow and had the 1st MOT last month. The service is principally a top-up of washer fluid tbh as everything else is "check the appearance of X or Y" most of which were checked on the MOT less than a month ago.

Had I known when I took delivery that COVID would have reduced my annual mileage so much I might have taken out the under 10,000 miles PA reduce service and saved a fortune although I might not have qualified for free Morris Bear!

I took out a 5 year low mileage under 10k PA service at Glyn Hopkin at

1st year £27
2nd year £98.18
3rd year £98.18
4th Year £63
5th year £226.92

MOT Mar 2023 £54.85
MOT Mar 2024 £54.85
Total = £607.98

Contact taken out for first five services with Glyn Hopkin. NB: Fifth service is the ‘big one’ as it includes many additional requirements.
NB:-
Last paid MOT March 2024
Last paid service April 2025

Check includes corrosion inspection!

Is there a name for this package as I enquired with my local Glyn Hopkins they did not say anything about this. Prices look fair for low mileage and I am happy to pay that if my Glyn Hopkins will honour it. Thanks

I agreed this package with Glyn Hopkin, East London branch when I purchased the car at the start of 2020. I guess prices may have increased like everything else with horrendous inflation. I paid in full and advance for car, servicing, MOTs, etc.

We live in Surrey which makes it a bit of a trek for each service & MOT, but found other MG Dealers nearer where we live did not meet our expectations, and GH seemed to be head and shoulders above the rest.

Wow I would be sold to something like that if my local Glyn Hopkins had offered at the time. Last week when I called it was a firm £150 for the first service, nothing for a low miler. 😔

Remember this was two years ago, and inflation was negligible. But now everything’s shooting up in price! I find it’s always useful to discuss and negotiate with vendors.

Some up to date service prices

Thanks. I called Browns and Gammons and they are quoting £83.40 now for low miler. Would probably go with them since they are the next closest.

Thanks

I was offered a 5 year £750 package when I bought my ZS in 2020 but opted not to take a package and I wasn't offered any low mileage package. I believe that the low Milage package is an MG package not a dealer package but this doesn't include the annual extension of the MG?AA Breakdown cover. Also, I've read on the forum that it must be taken out at the start of the car ownership so when I got to 1st service and had only covered 7,000 due to a year of COVID restrictions it wasn't offered to me. During 2020 the "Comfort 2" had become available to I paid for that to be done at the first service which made that cheaper and transformed the car tbh. Year 2 service was unexpectedly high I thought and I've just had Year 3 (45,000 mile) service but at only 22,000 so had I been on the Low Mileage scheme I would have saved again. It cost a total of £164 inc VAT and insurance for the loan car. I had the MOT done by a local independent for £40 inc VAT

I believe my low mileage package does include AA cover as well as corrosion warranty compliance. However I shall be taking the vehicle in for its annual service and first MOT on 9th March, and will seek GH’s confirmation on both.

IIRC the low mileage option only came out late 2020 or early 2021.

Thank you, it's my 1st service tomorrow and you've answered my questions! Also has anyone had any joy getting a broken charge port door replaced on the warranty?
