Well, after 2 years and 2 months of MG5 ownership it's goodbye from me.
I'll be selling the old girl next week having taken delivery of a used Polestar 2.
First thing that happened in the Polestar, the infotainment crashed and needed to be rebooted ;)
Just goes to show, all cars have their issues, irrespective of price ... but weirdly my MG5 has been faultless.
Time to move on now though ... adios amigos 👋

Enjoy your Polestar, but keep coming on, tell us how you get on with your new motor. 🙂👍

First commute in the P* today and managed 25.2 kWh/100mile (equivalent to 3.9 miles/kWh) which is more or less exactly what I was getting in the MG5. Performance is the more or less the same also. But the P* does feel more premium and 'solid', although I never had any complaints about the MG5 ... of course the P* is twice the price of the MG5. I've no regrets about buying the MG5. It was a great introduction to EV ownership, as for the P*, only time will tell ...

I think that's Wh/mile rather than kWh per mile?

I was looking at used Polestars, amongst others as the used prices are really good. Have heard a lot of stories good and bad so would love for you to keep us updated with tales of joy and woe.
Which model did you get ?

Polestar 2, pre-owned, long-range single motor (LRSM) 78kWh with the additional 'pilot' and 'plus' packs. Lovely to drive but not without its teething troubles - mainly the 360° camera only works on days of the week with an 's' in them ;)

WLTP range 338 miles - 78kWh (useable 75kWh) battery ... not sure I'll get close to this but so far in this cold I'm getting about 4 miles per kWh with some careful driving ;)

I was getting similar 4 miles per kWh in the MG5, but obviously a smaller battery so only about 230 miles total.

The Polestar has all the bells and whistles which my MG5 Excite didn't have, heated everything, remote access via App, timed charging, kick under rear bumper to open, front boot, etc. ... all nice to have but not really 'necessary', and of course a lot more that can go wrong.

I never had any issues with the MG5 by the way, other than the 'meh' styling, which in the end I could not pretend I didn't care about :(

The Polestar really is a nice looking car ... especially in this colour :)

If there's anything else specific you'd like to know feel free to ask.
Could be worse Tommy, could be any day of the week with a "Y" in it. 😉🙂

Good to hear and all the best.
I for one would find it interesting to hear longer term experiences with other EVs so hopefully you can drop in occasionally and let us know how you are getting on and how it compares over time and use.

I’ve just completed a beautiful run of about 100 miles in the five. Around 10 degrees C and I’m recording 4.6 m/kWh instant and nudging 4.0 for the month so far.

That's good for this time of year, only going to get better as it warms up. Yesterday I did my run to work and back (90 miles) using 30% battery (in the P*2), which equates to 22.5kWh, same as I used to in the MG5 (though of course in the smaller battery MG it was 40%).

Enjoy Tommy funny I've gone and done the same- I have swapped my MG5 for an older (18) model Jaguar Ipace First Edition ! which is about 75k new hence 2nd hand. Archev has seen said vehicle and approved my choice its pure luxury and fast !! 0-60 4.5 secs but like you Tommy not without problems, last week had a recall letter from JLR to book in for an update now the car wont accept a charge !!! its now at the Jag dealer to be rectified...ho hum but wouldn't change back.
Wont leave the forum - comments too good to miss +its better than the Ipace one
