MG ZS EV
I have the latest MG ZS EV. Does anyone know whether the factory fit tyres are standard or specific EV tyres? I'm not planning on changing them yet, but it would be good to know for when I do. I notice that grip is pretty poor, and wondered if that's partly due to poor factory fit tyres. I realise that all that power direct to the wheels means it's easy to wheel spin but you could do that in my old diesel car, just less easily of course. I'm by no means an aggressive speed demon; I drive relatively gently, with range and safety my priorities, not getting anywhere fast, but still, the grip seems pretty appalling.

Start by reading the many existing threads on this subject.
Here's a couple more examples:

I'm also looking at replacement tires, just done 30k and the front looks quite low, have a service on Thursday which no doubt they will advise for a change, but not sure what to get. Popped into kwick fit and they said I should get the same tires but cant find the Michelin Primacy 3st anywhere, plus I think they said that i should look for XL to be on the tires which is not on the cars that the car came with. So can I just get any tires that have XL on them witch I understand is for bigger more weigh-ere cars?

The important thing is the Load Index which was specified as 94 on the facelift model but not mentioned in the manual for the pre-facelift. Load Index is the number on the tyre that comes just before the speed rating e.g. 94V for the FL.

I’d avoid the e.primacy, they appear to have lower levels of tread in order to bump up the efficiency, so won’t last as long.

Currently looking at these AVON they have the XL and are 98W so looks like they are good for the ZS EV, anyone fitted these?

What’s the wet, economy and noise label? See my last thread to help you.
I had this fitted to my wife’s car during lockdown, they didn’t last very long due to cracking. I’d avoid. Pay cheap, pay twice.

I am happy with the Maxxis bravo .,even better than my gen 1 Michelin premacy.
In the snow also perfect 👍
Same here in Australia, noticed the change from Michelin when I bought my car & queried the dealership who were still test driving ZS EVs with the Micehlins at the time. They were unaware of the new tyres on new cars at the time. I agree, these are a very good tyre so far & would certainly be inclined to leave them alone until a new set is required in the future.

See post 2. There is a puncture resistant version too.

I had Primacy 3 as OE and they are at 2.5 mm at 27k, did well on a ZS EV on mixed rural and A roads. I will get them changed for Michelin E Primacy in late Feb and the OE will be at 2mm. I think I will have had the best of them defiantly at 27500 miles. The E Primacy come with 6.1mm tyre depth rather that 8mm other makes average but other EV cars we have seem to be doing well regarding wear at similar mileages , users report good all round rolling performance re resistance and energy consumption. Wet and dry performance reported by colleagues is also good generally, but, like most summer tyres not good in snow !!! I had some very useful opinions on tyres on this forum so a good place for advice from other users. Hope to get 25/30k from the new tyres before a change of car in two years , crossing my fingers and hope Michelin have got it right especially as they are anything but "cheap" :) MICHELIN E PRIMACY 215/50 R17 95W XL

Had the 30k service done on Thursday and I still have 4mm on the front tyres, so panic over for a few k more. Spoke to the dealer and they said that all SUV tires would be suitable.👍
