Anyone had experience with an OBD2 Bluetooth diagnostic scanner on an MG ZS EV using Android. What type of scanner works?

I did a little research recently and posted it here. These are based on the iPhone and the OBD2 dongles recommended by A Better Route Planner. The one I stuck with was the vLinker MC +

I just looked up that one on Amazon. In the reviews (which were good) I did see mentions that this model also made alarms go off, if it is left plugged in, on a switched off car. Is this a common thing with OBD2 dongles?

I would be a little cautious of leaving the OBD reader permanently plugged into the port myself, as it could provide a parasitic drain on the 12 volt battery.
I know there should not be any drain when the car is closed down, but the alarm maybe triggered when the car attempts to go into a deep sleep, it may detect the OBD reader, which then and sets off the alarm ?.
Just a thought 💭.

Looks like I may need a new OBD ll? I just plugged mine into my new facelift trophy model but this facelift model isn't showing all parameters. It worked perfectly on my gen 1 MG ZS EV model.

Hello RR,

I can only talk for a survey of 1, i.e. me, but I have left it plugged in for 3 months now and it hasn't caused me any problems in terms of alarms or draining the battery.

That said, though the quality level of the software associated with the MG ZS EV is so poor that anything could happen! When I first started using it I made sure that I removed it at the end of every trip but then on one occasion I forgot and it remained plugged-in but caveat emptor as they say...

Regards

I got the Nexus OBD2 from Aliexpress for £8.64 delivered, I'm still having trouble seeing the parameters on my 2023 ZS EV 51kWh Trophy. It connects up with Bluetooth no problem but the blue light on the module is flashing then goes off & according to the instructions it hasn't connected to the ECU!!!
The only parameters I'm seeing is the 12V battery voltage & the OBD voltage. Anyone any ideas if I need to do something else?

My other Panlong OBD 2 reader worked perfectly on my gen1 ZS EV but doesn't work with this facelift trophy model.

Hi Everyone, new owner here. Can you please tell me where the OBD socket is located in the FL 5 Trophy? Had a look under the dash but it was not obvious. Any advice much appreciated.

If it's in the same place as the ZS, it's under the dash to the right of the steering wheel.

P.S. You're in the ZS forum :)

I've been trying again in the settings to get these to work to no avail. I now get an email from SAIC saying The airbag on your vehicle has triggered an alarm when connecting.

Hello, I was just trying my obd dongles on our face-lift ZS 70kWh. I have two, an expensive recommended one and a 2€ one from Aliexpress. They both give me the same experience on the ZS and I was wondering if anyone else has this...

When going into all sensors and scrolling down I get to see lowest cell Voltage and the highest; 3.66 and 3.67. Also the HV voltage @ 351.5V and also the charge percentage; 41.5% and SOH 99.1% (after 25000kms). These could all be correct, they are in the ballpark.

But then I have a battery bus voltage of 1023.5V, and the readings of the min max voltages of cells in each of the 24 CMU are at 2.74V or 2.75V.

These figures aren't possible, because they contradict the earlier numbers.

So do you all get similar nonsense?

I was hoping to ascertain the number of series cells and number of cells per module by dividing pack voltage of 351 by 24 modules; 14.65V/Module. And then divide that by cell voltages of 3.665V; 4 cells per module. And so 96S for the pack. Which makes sense.

But everywhere I read says it is 400V architecture as opposed to the 360V on my Leaf, so I was expecting like 110S.

Anyway, anyone got data that makes sense from a 70kWh ZS?

Thanks,
Tom.

What is the cheap model from AliExpress that works for you? I got this one and no luck, can't even connect it to work... connected to my android phone, EZS software started something up to 10% and then stopped and after that nothing at all, I can't even connect to it...

That looks exactly like the one I got;

Odb

But I have never tried it with eZS because I didn't know that existed and it is not on playstore in France.

I used it with car scanner. You
may find the problem is the app not the adaptor, or a mix of the two. It is bluetooth not bluetoothLE, so make sure you get the setup right.

It's a bit of a minefield when trying to save money on these things. Good luck and do report back.

eZS I downloaded:
eZS - Apps on Google Play

and here is the direct link but haven't tried that: eZS
.....
I managed to connect using Car Scanner, all I wanted to see was battery health and it's at 92.32% apparently. .
