I have received an offer for the XPower as a company vehicle.

My typical daily usage would be as follows:

  • Charge the vehicle at work to 100%.
  • Commute to home (75 miles).
  • Drive around town (10-20 miles).
  • Commute to work (75 miles).
  • Charge the vehicle at work to 100%.

I work a rotating schedule of 4 consecutive night shifts followed by 4 consecutive days off. During my days off, I anticipate the need for rapid charging.

On my days off, I typically drive up to 50 miles for leisure activities such as hiking in the Peak District and occasional road trips.

My company provides free charging at work, and I have an All-Star card provided by the company for rapid charging.

I will not be charging the vehicle at home.

Would this work? Does anyone else do similar and enjoy/regret it?

As long as you don't hoon it all the time then 160 - 170 miles range should be easily achievable, even in winter. (Put the car in Normal or Eco and the front motor shouldn't usually come into play ... unless you hoon it). :)

I’d be wary of charging to 100% every time. The recommendation with Xpower is to stick with 80% unless you’re planning a long trip, which keeps the battery healthy. LFP batteries don’t mind charging to 100% all the time. You’d have to look up exactly which MG4s have them.

I charge to 100% all the time and don't give it a seconds thought.

97% to be accurate as that is all you will get on a fast charger (Tesla)

The only 'rule'? I've taken on board is to not let it sit at a full charge for any period of time.

By the time I get home it is usually circa 85% and nearer the recommendations.

Just remember that everything you read, see, hear is just that, recommendations.

Nowhere does it say 'You must do this or You must do that'

Your battery is warranted for 7 years no matter how you charge it.

I follow the 100% battery balance every month though, which I feel is the most important aspect of battery care that I'm bothered about tbh.

P.S. I can't charge at home.

Isn't the battery warrantied to maintain 70% of its capacity after 7
years? That's quite a loss.
I believe it is, but come on, that's not bad and industry standard anyway as far as I'm aware.

Besides, who keeps a car seven years?

Someone will pipe up (as is always the way 🤣)

I kept my last car for 11 years, my scooter is now 7 years old also. However, EV battery prices are set to plummet over the next 5 years as the EV market grows exponentially. This will open up an industry that caters for EV battery replacement and even upgardes to later battery technology.

Funnily enough, I've told my good wife that I'm going to keep my X Power for at least 3 years.

She just laughed because we've been married nearly 25 years and she now refuses to believe anything I say about car owning longevity!🤣

It's fine if you use it the way he will be

My wife says the same after over 40 years of marriage! Thats why I have only leased for two years and she actually asked the other day whether I have started to look at alternatives!
My reply was “no dear of course not…… “ 😉😉

I admit I have been fortunate to have been able to change cars frequently, when others cannot or don't feel the need to.

Back on topic, if it was me I wouldn't hesitate to get the XPOWER. However its down to your own choice and how comfortable you will feel regarding the reduced range compared to LR or ER versions.

Me too pal!

I consider myself very fortunate, but much poorer, due to my car changing habit!

Although to be fair,
since I've had the X Power, I've resisted the urge to take my £30k budget onto Autotrader to see what metal I could now get myself into!!

Congratulations on the 40 years of (servitude) sorry! Cough, Cough, marriage.

You Sir, are bestowed my imaginary Medal of Honour.

For Courage, Fortitude, and Bravery in the line of fire.👍🤣
