I've been looking through a myriad of threads regarding the Ohme home pro and Octopus intelligent tarriff and the conflicting information is confusing. I'm hoping someone who is on it with a pre FL MG5 can clear things up for me before I purchase an Ohme Pro.

So I have a pre FL MG5 long range. I'm currently an Octopus customer (flexible tarriff).
I know that there is no API for the pre FL but can the Ohme pro charger be left plugged in and set to only charge during off peak hours?

I don't need it to be doing anything else fancy, I just want to be able to plug the car in at say 7pm and have it charge between say 23:30 and 05:30 then stop without me having to go out at 23:30pm to plug it in.
Is that possible?

Thanks,
Robert

Yes, you can do exactly as you describe, simply set the Ohme app (this is what does the work) to use the off peak charge limit of 7.5p per kWh. It will then only charge at that rate during the 2330 to 0530 period. There are other smart tariffs but they might not suit your needs though perhaps worth considering. Hope that helps

If you want to use IOG correctly then don't set a price cap.
Before you plug in see what SOC you are on and what SOC you need to at by your departure time and set the percentage to ADD in the Ohme app.
Plug the car in and you will get a charge schedule when Octopus think the grid is greenest to charge the car.

Yes, for IOG that's true, but @robertb said they were on a variable tariff rather than IOG. That said, I'm on IOG and it works very well!

To be honest, I just charge the car to 100% I done that with my last EV (ZE40 Zoe) and the degradation over the 6 years I had it was negligible. I sold it with 99% SOH
If I was to switch to IOG I'm assuming it would just charge to 100% if I set the charge limit to 100%
