As anyone had any updates carried out on their ZS EV Long range trophy in the last year...as when my car went in for its first service none were done and when I asked I was informed
There were no outstanding recalls or campaigns on your vehicle. Any other updates are done at the customers request and are payable if they are not rectifying an issue as set out by MG. Thank you.

I wonder what MG's policy is on updates? Is this a dealer seeing a way of making money on a service which they are losing over ICE vehicles?

Sounds totally reasonable. I
f you find out you have software which is not up to date, and you want it updated I guess you’ll have to find a fault that can be duplicated by the dealership!

My understanding is, if you have software updates applied when the car is at the dealers, attending for it's annual service, then its FOC.
If you request updates outside of this schedule service point, then its chargeable to the customer.
Unless the car presents with a fault under warranty that dictates a software upgrade ( which formed part of the fix due to a faulty component etc ) that is then required.
On the grounds that if the part had not failed, it would not have required the software update / coding etc.
As part of the annual service checks, the car should been screened for updates anyway.

It was in for its first service...that's why I was wondering if there were any updates as it's now 1 year old...I'm sure I've read somewhere that an update was released this year

As a comparison, our ZS EV Trophy LR was collected mid March 2022.
It was presented for it's first service early March 2023.
At the time of it's first service, the BCM module received a software update and also the infotainment unit was updated.
The BCM software was updated because about two weeks AFTER we collected the car, MG had released a software update, to address the problem that some owners had encountered when trying to collect a charge from certain rapid chargers.
The car would throw up a high voltage fault code and effectively "brick the car".
Therefore making the car un-drivable.
In some cases the A.A. where able to attend and clear the fault code, then the car would reboot.
But on some occasions, some affected cars would require a flat bed ride back to the dealer.
This is the update that we received.

Thank you for the reply.....looks like the dealer either didn't bother to check whether the car needed an update...or trying to make money out of me. I got the car in July 2022 ...never tried a rapid charge maybe if I did it could brick the car

The side affect of the anti-bricking update was you can remove your home charger just by unlocking the car before the update you need to go to the screen and stop charge

The update was released late March / early June.
So you would have expected the dealer to have carried out the update as part of the PDI checks, or it may have arrived already done.
Or maybe neither !.
@N2STY makes a very good point.
This would offer you a rough indication if your car has been updated or not.
Give it a try ?.

Does anyone know what would be the latest Software versions installed on these, for both Infotainment and MCU?

We've collected a 2022 ZS EV SR from a local MG dealer and asked for all systems to be updated. The car wont allow us to stop charge and unlock AC charger cables just using the keyfob. I have pushed back to the dealer and said it needs the above "anti-bricking" update, but they are adamant all updates have been applied. Is there anything else I can use as evidence (apart from bricking the vehicle at a rapid) to push them to "fix" this?

All updates may have been done, but they have to be done in a certain order.

On our MK1 we had the comfort 2 installed but not the updated EVCC. They installed that at my request, which 'broke' some of the comfort 2 settings because it was not installed in the correct order.

Dont suppose you have experience with Perkins MG in Braintree?

We have a March 22 ZS EV LR and when it was charging from our wall box, you had to stop the charge in the head unit in order for it to stop ✋.
Unlocking the car with the fob just allowed the car to carry on charging.
It was similar when using the V2L discharge cable, if you were using this function, if you left the car and then locked it with the fob, it would stop discharging.
At the point of the first service, the BCM was updated.
This allowed both functions to operate correctly when the fob was used.
So, there is an update 100% sure.
