rattle noise, right side dashboard

I have also heard a simlar rattle, especially over un-even roads, on a MG ZS EV Long Range Trophy. It has been there since it was delivered in June. I finally took it to the local MG garage, who have informed me that the steerring wheel column needs replacing. I was pretty shocked when I heard this but apparently it is still ok to drive.

This has been an issue on both Gen 1 & Gen 2 models and has been covered widely on this forum.
Hardly surprising really, as the both models share the same Bosch steering set up.
Fixes appear to range from a simple nipping up the steering column pitch bolt and the attachment fixings, replacing the lower universal joint, or replacing the entire column assembly.
MG have been aware of this issue for a long time now and I believe it affects the ICE models as well.
The answer is to replace, rather than investigate and then rectify the real root cause of the problem.
Other members have waited a long time for the parts to arrive, as they always to be on back order situation from China.

I had a creaking type of rattle almost constant at motorway speeds. To get the grille out I used a blade and a trim tool.

The tweeter was loose/rattled in the grille and I solved it with the magic tape, I put it under the securing clips too so it was a tight mounting.

Unfortunately that didn’t solve mine and it was the clips on the grille to A pillar that made a creaking sound. I did drive around with it removed to confirm. More tape on A pillar to make the grille much tighter solved it.
sorry can you elaborate more about 'the clips on the grille to A pillar', as I have similar rattle noise issue and would like to know more about your case. thanks

The black tweeter rattles in it's housing which I solved with the felt tape. However I had a creaking sound, over concrete roads it was almost constant and it was the clip nearest the driver after pushing various parts to see when the sounds goes away and with varying pressure. If you look at the picture you can see the 5 clips that secure it and one didn't hold it tight enough, in my case the one by the driver door. I added tape to the hole A pillar and put it back.

Here is the link to the self adhesive
silent / felt tape that I used to cure the A post speaker rattle and the sky roof / interior light surround rattle.
You will need a good pair of sharp scissors, then it can be cut into thin strips to line the speaker face, then return it to the white speaker trim.

When driving there is a rattle noise mostly at lower speeds, below 40m. Seems to be its coming from the right side of the top of the dashboard.
Any solutions or similar experiences please?
Cheers
Definitely the tweeter behind the grill on the drivers pillow, had mine fixed on the first service, dealers know about it dont let them fob you off

Yes I still hearing the creaking sound over concrete roads even after fixing the tweeker with the grill, hopefully it is related to the 5 clips that you mentioned, not loud but annoying. For the time being, I will turn on my Apple Music and fortunately such creaking can be mostly covered when music is on. Anyway, let me try again tomr, thank you so much.

If the creaking sound is emitting from the dash rail, it is likely to be the common problem of the wiper scuttle panel gasket, dragging on the front windscreen.
This has been covered in the forum and has been evident on both models of the ZSEV.
The creaking is more evident in colder weather and reduces as the temperature ether outside or inside of the car rises.
The gasket is made from a hard plastic material and can been seen from the outside of the vehicle.

I submitted a complaint to MG's main office in the UK regarding the same issue with my MG5 Long Trophy. My dealer will investigate the problem next week. It's strange how some days you can hear it clearly, while on other days it's very quiet. Have you experienced the same effect?

I’m not really allowed to comment but I’ll see if I can get away with it this time,,,, the mg ZS ev I test drove had this creak. I was delighted when I collected my brand new one to discover that it didn’t have this creak…at least it didn’t for the first three weeks. I ended up just putting up with it because mg could never find the source of the creek, when I sold the car it still creaked… little gift along with the knocking steering wheel for the new owner…sorry whoever you were 😩

Another rattle that bugged us for ages, was hard to locate but we nailed it eventually.
One day, after numerous failed attempts, my wife just reached up and pressed up on the white surround that housed the interior light and the control panel for the sky roof - bingo got ya !.
These item can be easy (ish) to fix, but hard to locate in the first place.
Same fix for both, strip out the items and install some self adhesive silent tape, rebuild and refit.
Hours to track down and locate and about one hour to fix the lot.
This is the problem trying to get the dealer to locate the problem in the first place.
Thanks for anti rattle tape suggestion for the tweeters. On the Mk2 how do I remove the interior lights/sunroof panel for anti rattle treatment. I have trim tools but not sure where to start?

I had originally had my windscreen re=fitted to correct this fault but it did come back, I presume therfore then that this might have been because the windscreen was not the causue of the issue.

I have not found it necessary to remove the trim on our Gen2 model ( yet ) so I can not offer you any help on this subject sorry :( .
It was pretty straight forward on the Gen1 model, if I remember correctly ?.
I seem to remember removing the interior light assembly first, then this made it easy to see the clips that held in the sky roof surround panel in place.
I used the car for a couple of days with the whole panel completely removed, just ensure I was barking up the right tree regarding the rattle problem.
Yeah - 100% sure the rattle had gone, so I set about cutting and installing thin strips of the silent felt tape around the contact points of each assembly.
I reinstalled the sky roof surround into the car first, then used it for a couple of days - no rattle.
Then finally, I reinstalled the interior light assembly and tested again, no more rattles.
Strangle enough, I have not had the speaker rattles in this model either ?.
But the "Clicking / Ticking" noise from the wind screen has carried over from the Gen1 model.
Last week, I noticed that when we travel around a tight small round about, the passengers seat has developed a "creaking" sound from under the seat cushion.
When it is occupied by a passenger of course.
If I place my hand in the centre of the seat and push down hard, I can reproduce the creak.
This will require removal of the seat and investigate the problem, when the weather improves.
