Where to put the key?

Apologies if this is a stupid question....but is there a prescribed location for the key when you're driving the car, or do people just throw it in the cup holder or under the infotainment area? Just wondering in case I am missing something obvious!

The car generally won't let you lock the key inside the car. The door will refuse to lock by button (and honk at you) if the key is still inside. (I imagine this is not fool-proof, but nice to know the car tries to look out for you.)

Pocket. But I haven't tried using the car in summertime yet, guess I'll also leave it in the cup holder, since the space with the USB sockets is busy with phone and stuff, and the space beneath the armrest feels a bit clumsy to open when seated, I think.
 
Had ZS EV LR trophy for 1 1/2 years and it's always stayed in my handbag.
I believe the confusion might be that if the battery is low, to pop it in the center console drinks well, where the symbol is. That way the car reads it easier.
Although, don't quote me on it. :D
 
The car can get very confused if you leave a key in the car for long periods. That happened with my car when it was in the bodyshop after an accident. After a while the car stopped responding to the key at all.
The answer is to treat it as in real life. Eg, take the key WELL away from the car overnight or for periods when you are not using the car.
