Software Updates

Had the service done last week. And the dealer told me in his notes that apparently the system says there is no updates required for my car (that's before my car is in their workshop ). So, I guess they don't plug in and check what versions I am not, but when I booked for a service, the system will tell them if there is any updates required?. I hope he just didn't fob me about on this. 😅

The dealer can do a quick check for less recent updates by using the VIN number, but when the car is connected to the diagnostic computer, they can interrogate deeper ( if they wish to do so, if you get my meaning ).

Anyone knows what are the latest versions of software on Mk2 ZS? Just bought one second hand and no idea whether needs updating. Going for service next week but no idea what they will do even if I ask for updates....

Ask for a print out of the service sheet and anything they do to have your own service history.

Help please - please see attached, is this the latest software or do I need to ask my dealer to update anything whilst servicing next week?

It's Mk2 ZS 2022 standard range Trophy model

I will try map updates myself using instructions from this forum, hope it's safe.

These appear to be the info / head unit software versions ?.
The dealer should apply any / all updates ( including the operation / charging software etc ) that is available on their MG system.
They will do this by cross checking, using your VIN number.
This will be done FOC at the time of your annual service.
It MAY return a "No Updates Available" report though, IF the car has already been updated at the previous service interval(s).
If you wish to know the SOH of your traction battery, ensure you ask the dealer to provide you with a screen shot of its condition, or they may forget to include it on the "service schedule check off sheet".

I was first quoted about £165 (I guess that was for basic service) but when they realised it was for 30k service, they increased it.
Fred - I would question that quote again TBH because on the MG Service Schedule Check Off Sheet, it clearly states that the 2nd service is due every "2 years or 30,000 miles" ( which ever comes first ).
If you look at line item 8 on the sheet 1 for example, it instructs the tech to replace the cell coin battery in the key fob.
On that line item, track straight across that line, too the far right hand side of the sheet, in the text box over there, is printed the following 2 / 30 this means 2 years or 30,000 miles.
If you check both sheets, you will see similar line item requirements for both time or distance.
So, I am at a bit of a loss to understand why they have increased the price really, unless there are carrying out ANY addition work called for on the sheet ?.
If so, what and why are they doing this and why have you not been informed of additional work ?.
Some dealers will recommend a brake fluid replacement at 2 years - some not.
Mine did not require it, as its moisture content was within the safe limits allowed.
It is very likely it will get replaced at the time of the 3rd service though 🤣.
If it HAD require changing, this would have increased the price by about £50 if I remember correctly.
This still only suggests about £230.00 (ish) - so not even close to the almost £300.00 you have been quoted ?.
So, in order to proved some proof of what I believe is correct - I will include the MG service check off sheet that I asked to be completed by the tech, when he completed the work on my car.
In the top / centre of the sheet 1 - You will see ( circled in biro ) a text box that clearly states 2 years OR 30,000 miles.
Half way down the same sheet, you will see my current SOH of my traction battery pack ( 99% ).
They also provided a paper print out, taken as a screen shot of my battery SOH.
This was clearly taken from the diagnostic computer as it displays the VIN number of my car.
Oh .............. Our car has covered around 16,500 miles and 25 months old.
Hope this info helps in someway (y).

Bit complicated as I got it second hand and the guy before missed quite a bit of servicing...so for this time I'll bite the bullet in hope service records get fixed 🤞

If the car is now only two years old, then it has missed the first service only surely ?.
Hopefully this will not impact on the remainder of the seven year warranty 🤷‍♂️.

I don't know how they managed that but the previous owner (lease co.) missed first service and when they were supposed to do second, they've done first...😵‍💫

Anyway, picked up the car, they've done 2nd year 30k service now and all is good, they've replaced everything that was supposed to be replaced but failed to write down battery % 😞 ... They've done vehicle health check and all good. AA cover extended and now need to check with customer services how is my 7 year warranty looking...

(forgot to ask about any software updates, just remembered now 🙄)
