Hi all,

I’m wondering if anyone has seen this issue. I started the car (it had been parked up outside at my folks while I dropped off their food shop), reversed out of the drive and noticed the wiper stalk wasn’t working, not on the front, back or on pulling or pushing to engage the sprays, my folks live on an estate so I pulled over, turned off and on again, still no response from the wiper stalk. So I went round the rest of the estate and parked up back on the drive at theirs, thinking I’d need to ring AA or look for the fuses, but then I turned off and opened the door and then the wipers went on. After restarting all was back to normal. May just be a weird glitch or I’m wondering if it has anything to do with being out in the rain for a couple of hours (it’s normally garaged) and I changed the reversing lights to led bulbs on Friday, so wondering if that could have caused an issue (the 3 bolts were full torqued and I checked that the rubber plug was fully in between the light and the body work on both lights), it shouldn’t have done and the lights seem to be working fine, but wanting to rule out user error.

Im going to leave the car parked up for an hour at home and try and replicate the reversing out and seeing if it happens again, but wanted to see if anyone had seen this behaviour?

Update a couple of hours after I got home, I took the car out again around the block and everything working fine. Seems a weird one time / intermittent failure to have!

Hi,

I’ve just had exactly the same glitch. Didn’t work all the way to work even though I stopped several times to turn off and back on. I’ve arrived in work and am getting out of the car and they’ve turned on.

Make sure your bonnet is closed properly, maybe open and shut it again, the wipers stop working when the bonnet is opened.

Yes, good shout, I had the same issue on my Mercedes, the bonnet open warning light switch failed and the wipers stopped working.

My car has the same wiper issue its not the bonnet i suspect a connection but looks like another trip to the dealer these cars seem to have poor electrics compared to most modern cars

have anyone found out the problem, i have the same problem. Nothing but my rear wipers work and wiper stake doesnt do anything.

Just had the same happen to us, raining horribly and wipers not working. Turned off and on again and no change, left it off for half an hour to shut down entirely and no change. Help!

This may help, try opening and reclosing the boot, yes I know...... doesn't make any sense but try it. Mine was a ZS but still

Someone earlier on here said make sure your bonnet is closed otherwise the wipers stop working.
You could try the old trick of uncoupling the negative 12v battery terminal for 10 mins then reconnect. Seems to reset a lot of tech issues.
