I've got a pre-facelift MG5 LR excite currently with the standard wheels on. I'm interested in switching to something more aero if there are gains to be had but I'm not seeing any examples of people doing it with the MG5.

If you know of comparisons that people have done please point me towards them, or known good rims for this purpose.

I'm guessing the aero wheels from the facelifted model would fit just fine. Is anyone looking to get rid of theirs? I'd be up for giving them a try and posting my results on here.

I would have thought that any improvements in economy would never offset the cost of purchasing new wheels. The MG5 is a budget EV so most owners wouldn’t be interested in changing the wheels for appearance. If they were concerned about styling they would have bought a different car. The only changes I have made were out of necessity, upgraded headlight bulbs and tints for the windows.

My goal isn't primarily to save money overall, I mainly want more range. That's kinda why I went for the car in the first place, most range for the money. So if I could get even more for not too much money that'd be amazing.

Presume your joking, your slipstreaming
lorries to eke out a few extra miles. 🤔
It works, but isn’t safe when aiming for maximum effect:

There are oodles of rims out there with a 5x112mm PCD which will fit straight onto your hubs, since that PCD is common to countless VAG / Seat / Skoda cars. I've actually thought about throwing on a set of steel rims from a VW Caddy down here in 'Pothole Devon' (where people here are breaking all prior world records for turning alloy wheels into bananas).

Not only VAG original wheels, but all the aftermarket designs too.

Ideal offset (ET) should be 38 - 42mm, but rims outside that offset range may well also fit.

It might save a few tenths of a kw/h and increase range by a mile or two but is it really worth it! 🫣
When your range was <100mi and your trip >100mi and no chargers en-route, then yes. 50 mph on a motorway or slip streaming.

No such challenges today!

56mph is roughly 25 metres per second so as long as your reflexes are pretty good (= or <1 second) then example 3, or possibly even 2 above is fine … but not 1 😉
So after your reaction time you expect the car to stop instantly on the spot ?
