Hi all. I searched up here and online and the only place really that sell such a cable is evcable website. But that is still at a whopping £150 for a 5 m cable single gang. Is there anywhere that does one that is a bit more price friendly ? I have to do quite a few camping trips to make the money's worth. 😅

I ordered one of these.
Hmmm. The linked web site calls all the type 2 looking options "GBT", which is the Chinese EV standard. As far as I know, it's the same as European/IEC type 2 except for the gender of the plugs and sockets, so it likely is compatible, but maybe there is some weird mirror image problem.

Then again, GB/T is supposed to have a weird 6-sided hole around the earth pin, and I don't see that. So maybe they're using the term "GB/T" when they mean "type 2".

Please let us know how it goes (or not).

I have tried 3 different types now. All seem to work fine, though I did need to change the wiring/resistor on one of them. There a thread on here somewhere about it - it looks a bit like one @Gadget Geek mentioned.
There's also a Youtube video about converting a granny cable. I'll take some photos of the unit when I get it and open it up.

One spanner in the works is that I haven't got the car yet. :)

Thanks all. I went thru a lot of info and some YouTube video and yes can be self made with a resistor. Just that I am not good with electronics and certainly poor in soldering, I guess I will just have to pay the odds for the peace of mind ,🙂
