I've had another thought about poor range. Tyres can make a big difference, the Chinese rubber may be especially bad and different to the tested spec. I know a few people changed due to vibrations, if you have changed tyres have you noticed a difference in consumption?

If you have a charger that can show you how much charge is put into the battery you could also use the starting percentage and calculate if it is fully charging.

I've just checked for the first time today and have an oil leak after 350 miles. It's only been on local journeys, I don't think it has ever exceeded 50 mph but a lot of oil on the undertray and a few big patches on the drive.

I think you have a MBS or battery issue. The car doesn't really seem to know what state of charge it has and this could be why you are also getting poor range as 100% indicated isn't a full charge. 40% is not a low charge and you shouldn't be seeing restricted power until a much lower charge.

My comment was ambiguous. To be more precise I meant whilst not actually charging but still being connected to the wall charger. I can't remotely trigger preheating with energy supplied by the grid, it only works when unplugged and using power from the battery.

I think with all this comments about range that maybe the MG is just more accurately or conservatively representing the current usage of power as a range. Initially without any wheels moving you could easily use 1kWh of battery power heating when it's very cold and therefore before the wheels...

I find EVs fantastic in the winter. Being able to precondition a car remotely and step it a warm and deiced car is one of the smuggest feelings especially as you drive past all the ICE cars slowly warming and being attacked by ice scrappers! I haven't had any real problems in the last 6 years...

We originally test drove an SE and the sound was poor so wasn't expecting much. Happy to say we picked up our Trophy today and I was pleasantly surprised, it isn't a premium sound but much better than some standard systems.
