Agree @BugEyed… the OP reported they were notified from the app that the airbag had deployed and triggered the alarm. I hope we get an update from the OP and the dealer and MG UK recognise the seriousness of what’s happened here.

I think the other side of the coin is whether the airbag would deploy properly in a real accident.

@FiFi forgive me for asking, but is there any possibility that your car was hit or bumped when sitting on the driveway, which may have caused the airbag to deploy?

Which mode was the car in @bowfer ? According to the user manual, “Sport Mode concentrates on providing more power to enhance the performance.” so wondering if that would stop you seeing this restriction? Very odd behaviour from the car.
