Took my Trophy in for its first service last week. Asked them to fix the Bluetooth. They upgraded some modules (secret mg 'recall') but attempts to upgrade the infotainment system failed. Their tech is off to MGUK this week and I'm promised an appointment for the update after this 🥴
I use auto lights but manual full beam/dipped.
I've switched the lights completely off by accident 3/4 times, easy to nock the small switch while manually dipping etc. Very scary the first time on a dark country road before I worked out what had happened.
Surely our contract is with MGUK and not the Chinese factory or head office. MGUK should hold a stock of spare parts and if they are not available, they should cannibalise one of their sales department fleet cars to keep their customers on the road.
Does the car not heat the batteries in that situation? I would be tempted to use the battery pre-heat option available on the MG I-smart app on the scheduled charging page but the instructions are vague: "it is recommended to schedule battery heating 1 hr before using the car"
Post #11 has a picture of the fuse box with indicated spare positions. I managed to fit the Dashcam plug(s) by just removing the side panel. Fiddly but saved removing the dash.
I assume Tesla went for li-Ion instead of LiFePo4 for cost and weight reasons. Getting a decent 12 v lead acid equivalent with Li-Ion is more difficult due to the voltage of the cells. Li-Ion and LiFePo4 while both lithium are very different technologies. LiFPo4 is much better suited for a drop...
The originator of this thread was asking specifically about the MG4 12v battery. I know it is interesting to broaden the scope but this doesn’t really help ChilledMatt. Maybe the extended discussion should be moved from the MG4 specific forum to the general ev discussion?
Does anyone see the HVAC settings page on the I-smart app? I’m only able to turn it on or off in the app and can’t access the screen below (screenshot from the apple AppStore).
I have an mg 4 and have only ever been able to turn the hvac on and off, no option to configure it on the I-smart app ( before and after upgrading to latest I-smart and iOS iPhone 13)

If you fit a 16v battery you will need to modify the charger to charge at the correct voltage for the battery and I’m certain that you would invalidate the mg warranty on all the 12v electronics.
