Is there an update on this? My car has started making what seems to be the same noise. A whiney, droney noise which increases with motor speed. It’s booked in but not for another four weeks. I hope driving it won’t cause more damage.

Same for me. Was using a genuine Apple cable but would take ten or so attempts before it would connect properly. Bought a new one from Apple, works every time.

It was the incoming supply to the charger. There are allowable tolerances, I think up to 253v?? Either way the manufacturer said that they have logs every 15 mins and didn’t see anything over voltage so it must have been small. They adjusted things and no problem since.
