Mine seems to work more simply than that. I drive up to the charger - tell it to start in the app - then plug in the car.

They didn't intentionally block all MGs. They blocked cars that had a fault that was causing a problem. It just so happens that the MG5 was one of the cars that had the fault. I don't think that anyone with an MG4 ever had a problem with superchargers.

I also like the fact that you can reliably see the status of the Tesla chargers while you are on the road. We found a number of nice Tesla chargers in hotel car parks on a recent trip to Amsterdam. It made the stops very civilised.

I don't really have a dog in this fight anymore as my FL was done by my dealer and I'm very happy with the result but.... I fail to see how MG can say that fixing a bug in the charging procedure could be a warrantee issue for one car but not for another. It is either a problem that needs fixing...

But the evcc update has never been warranty work. Mine was done by my dealer as a good faith gesture during its first service.(My opinion is that it definitely should have been a warranty issue)

I don't agree. I set the HVAC to the temperature that I want and leave it alone. The only control I need is the screen demist, which has its own button.

I don't think that that is right. My experience would be that if you accepted the manufacturers claims for petrol fuel consumption against the worst possible case for an EV they might come out about the same.

I don't do it often but I have found it wildly variable. I have once achieved something in the mid eighties but low 70s is more common (obviously slowing down towards the end if I don't get back to the car at the 80% mark)

I use MG Apple, whose servicing is done in Meopham . I had mine done back in January and I think that they would have charged me for the update if I wasn't having the first service done at the same time.

I've taken to driving mine like I stole it so I don't even get figures as good as that but because all of my charging this month was at home it was still under 6p per mile.

Someone is lying to you. My guess would be that MG customer service just sent out an old email, that almost certainly wasn't true 6 months ago when they sent me the same message. I've had much better reliability now that I have a wireless AA adaptor.

The MG5 doesn't have the digital key just app lock/unlocking (which is very handy if you lock your keys in the boot).

The voice button is for android auto (and probably carplay) the car doesn't have any voice recognition of its own. Can you imagine MG being able to handle voice recognition in all of the markets that it sells cars into?
