"...so long, and thanks for all the fish..."

Sure thing. Yes, the range is a big thing when we looking the numbers. I'm fine with that. My daily use is less than 100km, in city. What I need is the lightest EV with a sensible size battery. Tick. I'll probably report back in a few weeks if there is any interest.

"...so long, and thanks for all the fish..."

I had enough of mourning about my dislikes and traded my 6 months old MG4 Excite 51 for a BMW i3 (94Ah, 27.2 kWh usable) BEV. Yes there are pros and cons... no argument there. I just felt overwhelmed by the latter. Thanks for having me, and all the great wealth of knowledge you guys are sharing...

It works on R05. Great feature, proves the programmers have some good ideas. So why they ruined the rest?

Leaving the car for most of February

As long you happy with the result is fine, I guess it would be different if you couldn't leave the airport. Also I'm not sure whether a 6W/h average consumption is high or not, probably some expert out there to tell us. One thing for sure, I wouldn't leave my car behind lower than 70% SOC for an...

    Petition MG about Driver Settings

Well, it seems to be there is some confusion about Euro NCAP (ANCAP in Australia &NZ) requirements. Safety or accident prevention (if you like) features are essential to be ON, to gain score on the safety rating. Quote from the reply for my question from ANCAP recently: "In order to score as...

So the HV battery maintained the charge of the 12V battery. Great. I'm not sure how the jump starter could be useful, but you might need to find out what caused the drain on the 12V battery (frequent check on the vehicle status on your phone, glove compartment light...). Did you make it home/to...

The MG4 SE 1100R33 Infotainment Thread

There were a whole bunch of small thing which was annoying but it seems to be fixed, like internal temp reading, etc.. but the major improvements are: LKA: smoother, and less aggressive. It mean sensing the actual lane boundaries is more precise, and intervene less frequently than earlier. I...

The MG4 SE 1100R33 Infotainment Thread

Since my post, you referring to, I had a "software update" and all the numbers are the same. Including those under the "engineering menu", no changes whatsoever. The car handling improved though, LKA, ACC way better than before. I have no off button in the drop down menu , what I'd really like...

At the same time.... in the same manual.... "Intelligent Charging The 12Vbattery SOC(State Of Charge) is constantly monitored, when the vehicle is power OFF it is possible, under certain conditions, that the HV battery will automatically charge the 12V battery to ensure the vehicle starts. This...

Other manufacturers offsetting SOC, to allow the regen work even on 100% (which is practically 95%). OPD isn't my thing, but using friction break to provide the same "service" in any condition, would be beneficial, and definitely would provide continuity in driving experience...

    Positive Vibes for the MG4

I came here after I bought my Excite 51 (SE SR I think) and I was overwhelmed by the "niggly" annoyances. I'm still and I have to admit I was over reacting a little. Since the first "shock" when I realized the car has a "selective memory" I learned to live with it. I'm not saying I'm over it...

Yeah, he tested the 51 kWh version in Asia, I can't remember whether he mentioned the charging speed or not.

I can live with that, no problem. It will take a long time before real fast chargers getting common around here. I know there are some (see above). Until that... it's just fine.

Yeah, the problem is not the peak, IMO the issue is the way how it is start to throttle back. I usually use 50kW charger (that's the most common where I travel and time were not so crucial), my max was around 43kW, then above 80% it was back to 26kW descending.... Not sure if it is the car, or...

    Trip data reset

In my case the "From last charge" is temperamental, even though after the SW update. So I can produce statistics like this: Don't forget, it is an Excite 51 (SE SR)...

Yeah, I have no need to charge while I'm "home", I mean I easily can cover my daily commute from my solar (maybe not during winter), and DC charging is mainly for trips... It will be worth trying at least to see how much charge the "small" car can take.

Sure, you've got the point. Here on the SI I had no chance to try my max charging capacity either (88kW). I did not try too hard though.
