Range decrease due to cold weather [merged thread]

Just did a ~80km journey and got consumption of 18.2kWh/100km. 85-105km/h speed throughout the journey (a few slowdowns in there tho). Not bad for -1C weather consumption wise. Climate was at 24C and Auto. Normal driving mode. Also got to take advantage of cheap DC charging (0.2€ per kW @...

MG4 EV (Long Range) - Bugs

I can do ~230km of city driving (my consumption according to the GoM is +29.8kWh/100km) in -30C-20C in Finland. It has been below -15C ever since I got the car on the 30th of Jan. Going to highways where the speed is more constant, consumption drops to around 20-24kWh/100km. Naturally it’s not...

    MG4 Software Update Thread

I mean they are the official importer of MG's to Finland, who handle the updates, warranty, representation etc. Wouldn't think they would say something they had not heard first hand from MG :)

    MG4 Software Update Thread

Just talked to my rep at the dealership I got my car from 3 weeks ago (they did a checkup call if everything was working fine) and asked about OTA updates. They told me that MG had confirmed that OTA should be coming this year to European models.

    New member, MG4 Trophy advice

I have had my MY23 Trophy (Luxury here in Finland) for 3 weeks, done about 500km on it and have had only 1 single fault that presented itself on the first 3 days I had the car, which was the driver side mirror not folding without giving it a slight push. Now, even in -30C weather it closes and...

How much do you spend on charging?

So far I’ve done around 490km on my MG in a little over 2 weeks, have used only public charging, fast/slow charging is about 50/50 it has cost me around 30€.

    Positive Vibes for the MG4

Same in Finland. Every year or every 24k.

    Consumption

Yeah, had I used eco driving mode it would have more than likely been even lower indeed!

    Consumption

Both were pre-heated as I was at the charger charging for 30mins before setting off!

    Consumption

Drove around 50km this morning in -15C weather, AC on 24C and eco mode for AC. Driving mode was Normal. 70% of the driving was on highway at 100km/h speed and rest around 40-60km/h speeds. When I got home the consumption was 22.1kWh/100km. Not bad.

    Positive Vibes for the MG4

It is the Finnish spec so it has three phase charging, I get around 9.0-9.8kW from a public 22kW charger. The apartment building I live has not yet installed chargers (hopefully coming later this year) so I have exclusively used public chargers.

    Positive Vibes for the MG4

I've had my MY23 Luxury (Trophy for UK) for a week now and absolutely love driving it. Finland was hit with cold weather on the week I got it and it performed amazingly in -30°C weather. Had to turn the heat to 23-25°C for an extended driving session as the window radiated the cold to my hands...

Luxury Sat Nav Voice Direction Language

Picked up my Luxury spec MG4 today and was wondering, since I couldn’t find it from the menu, where can I change the spoken direction language? Or maybe it just doesn’t support Finnish? 🤔

    Do you flash other mg4s?

Yes, I do grant everyone a glimpse of my bare chest.

    MG4 doesn’t get warm.

Been watching a lot of Tesla Bjørn lately and the temp discrepancy from the AC screen seems to be a very common thing with Chinese cars according to him. MG, Maxus (SAIC as well) and to some extend Xpeng also have this.

    Wanted to share this.... 😬

Yeah, in Bjørns testing it didn’t become power limited until 0%.

    Wanted to share this.... 😬

There’s quite a bit of buffer on the MG4. Tesla Bjørn had around 28km of buffer even when the GoM and battery percentage showed 0%. And like with a petrol car, you can run out of juice.

    Wanted to share this.... 😬

Judging from your footage, at least a part of the trip was done uphill, which on EVs drains the battery very fast. Combined with low temperatures, that's not that surprising. If you do the test in reverse, so going downhill, you will see your range increase quite a bit.
