Just to come back to this. When I had to move the car, after the vacuum pump was gone, I did manually push the brake pedal and gave it everything I had. To put that in context, I'm a 6 1, 17 stone lad and I was not pushing it lightly. The car was extremely difficult to stop - and essentially it...
Hmmmm. Didn't know that. I have access to cheap electricity rates for a 4 hour window each night so had hoped to charge it every night in that window - with the potential to get up to 24/26kw in during the 4 hours.
Doing 60% once every 3 nights will change my running costs and not in a good...
We had this on our car - on day 5 after getting it. Car was 6 months old. It was the vacuum pump on the brake system that was gone and had to be replaced. The car pinged up loads of errors when turned on and ended with the Vehicle Control Fault one. I had a separate post on it when it happened 2...
Apologies if this is a stupid question....but is there a prescribed location for the key when you're driving the car, or do people just throw it in the cup holder or under the infotainment area? Just wondering in case I am missing something obvious!
Thanks
Actually that's interesting. I had to move the car and I tried to apply the parking brake when I was at about 5mph - and it actually disengaged everytime I pulled it
My wife was driving and she struggled to stop the car. To be fair, I had to move it after it happened as I couldn't leave it where she stopped and it was extremely difficult to stop the car. I do have serious worries about what would have happened if the pump had gone as the car was travelling...
The brake vacuum pump (hopefully i have correct name) went in the ZS we had just bought. It did mean that the brakes were extremely difficult to use to get the car to stop as it happened as the car was driving. Not thrilled at all and would say it was just as well it didn't happened on a motorway.
Just to give an update. Been told it a brake pump issue? From looking here, that seems to be an issue that pops up once in a while. I'm not impressed to be blunt. Essentially the brakes failed in a moving car - that's not good.
Unfortunately, I have heard nothing from the dealer where the car is now parked up other than being told it will be weeks before it is even looked at. And the MG Warranty cover does not cover a replacement car. All in all, not a good situation.
Thanks for the suggestions. No joy - the battery didn't drop below 12.6v with the lights on and the AA now are arranging to have it lifted. Not a good start to life with an EV.
Hi,
If anyone could offer advice I'd be very grateful....
Driving Long Range ZS and in the middle of the road today all the string of warnings flashed up - with the main one being the Vehicle Control System Fault. String of errors about front collision system being down, hill assist being down...
