Gear shifting in EV mode, Warning

I can confirm this. In hybrid mode also, there is a HUGE 'flat spot' at about the same speed, but it's masked to some extent by the ICE. This is well known, and is certainly a software issue, but whether it will ever be fixed is another matter.

eCall-SOS Emergency Assistance not available see handbook.

I get that at random intervals. In my case it's definitely signal related as it appears at the same time as my WiFi Internet box that I have in the car for the kids also drops out. Living where I do, it's not a total surprise. Just hope I never need it while I'm in a dead zone!

    Self Charging

That's normal. You really don't want to be burning petrol to charge the battery (although you can force it to do so) That's the point of a PLUG-IN hybrid. You use grid power instead of generating it by burning petrol at 25% efficiency. Use EV mode around town, where all the...

I have an intermittent warning light....

I have a yellow triangle warning light that intermittently appears on my dash. It's not the one that can sometimes come up above the speedo, and has a corresponding text warning that you can display. It comes up just above the petrol guage. When it appears, it doesn't appear to affect the...

    New Phev Owner Question

Really? I've looked through the settings - can't find it.

    New Phev Owner Question

I thought about that - that's definitely not it. It's inconsistent, generally worse when the battery is flat and most definitely worse when cold. It's not just a reduction in power followed by a boost, it's literally the behaviour you would expect if you were tapping your right foot on the...

    New Phev Owner Question

Regarding fuel consumption, a PHEV is not great at long journeys, that's not really its purpose. Over a (say) 200 mile motorway run, it's just a 6 speed automatic in a not-very-aerodynamic car and it will behave like one. Where it excels is at short start/stop journeys such as school run...

    New Phev Owner Question

Fwiw my car is now a year and 6000 miles old. When in EV mode, there is a noise that sounds similar to an underground train pulling away (low pitched 'moaning' type noise) that increases in frequency as speed increases, but also gets quieter, disappearing completely at about 20mph. Above that...

Official Plug In Car Grant (PICG) Thread

True you don't NEED one but you'll be paying standard unit rates for power if you don't. Even now with ridiculous pricing, you can get 4.5p per Kwh overnight. That differential will be maintained for the forseeable future no matter what happens with wholesale prices, until the grid demand is...

Official Plug In Car Grant (PICG) Thread

Oh but there is. Recognising any given devices' power usage signature is fairly trivial and I can forsee a time when that information is supplied by the manufacturer. Combined with an update to smart meter software, 'they' will - in theory at least - be able to tax any given device at whatever...

    32A commando socket?

Yes that is correct, and is (one of) the reason why EV chargers require an independent earth, or a PEN fault detection device that DISCONNECTS THE EARTH CONNECTION in addition to disconnecting the power. You ABSOLUTELY MUST NOT connect the charger earth rod to the installation earth. Doing so...

Webasto heater ? JUST INSTALLED :-)

Yep...but burning fuel to heat your car up to 'toasty' is kind of defeating the point. If you had an engine pre-heater, you wouldn't need to start the engine at all. If it cools down before you complete your journey (very likely if it's freezing out) it will start and heat up again whatever you...

    Full Post Code Entry?

I think the confusion around full post codes is that SPACES ARE IMPORTANT. If you don't explicitly enter the spaces in the postcode, it gets confused. Example....enter MK7 (space) 7 then the remainder..no problem Enter MK77...then you can't enter the rest because the next character is a...

Passenger Compartment fuse board, Does it exist??

Which fuse did you tap for the ignition controlled feed? In my case I want to power a WiFi hot spot but while I'm in there a dash cam is a good idea too 😊

    Slow/jerky transmission

OK.....did it change the jerky acceleration or solve the massive pause at about 50 mph when accelerating hard?

    Slow/jerky transmission

Hybrid gearbox update is news to me. My dealer told me there's an update available that has something to do with the HV battery, but it's not a mandatory update. Didn't mention anything about a gearbox update. I'll ask again.

    Slow/jerky transmission

I've been out this morning....the jerking is there all the way from a standing start if the ICE is running. It's definitely a problem with the ICE transmission - if you're not seeing it then my car needs looking at........

    Slow/jerky transmission

The slow gear changes are only half of the problem. It's the jerkiness when the ICE cuts in that I wanted clarification about - specifically is it just my car or did anyone else notice it. I haven't seen it mentioned elsewhere. Yes I saw the claim that it's a DCT. So why does it do a damn good...

    Slow/jerky transmission

OK..... So if it's not belts, and by definition gear wheels can't slip - that leaves some sort of clutch fault? If others have noticed this then I have to assume it's not an actual mechanical fault with my car.....hopefully it's a software issue that gets patched sooner rather than later. It...

    HS PHEV cumulative trip record

There are 3 odometers in the car. 1) Total miles covered. This is displayed at the bottom of the display between the fuel and battery guages. You can't mess with this. 2) Accumulated total. This is the normal 'trip mileage' counter that all cars have. It counts miles/fuel economy reset...
