    BG or Octopus EV tariff

We replaced our dumb wall box with the Ohme Home Pro and tried switching to Intelligent Octopus Go. Had loads of problems so instead opted for Agile Octopus and have found we can reliably save against the IOG tariff we originally wanted (there's a comparison app which gives you the figures) and...

    Max rapid charge rate

Useful stuff on here -:aI wondered why the swanky looking charger at Southwaite Services on M6 North was taking so long to top us up from 30% to 80% whilst the car on the next one was showing double my rate. I'll have to buy a large latte next time 😉

    Insurance Renewal

Mine went from £220 to £440. No claims, no convictions just being ripped off. This was after doing the full Martin Lewis MSE treatment

    Upgrade of house main fuse

I thought my upgrade would be free too but our DNO charged over £100 simply to switch the existing 60A fuse for a 100A one, which took less than 5 minutes ☹️

How do I disable muting of the radio when reversing?

Yep - I used mine twice in 4 years

What do you think of mg5 insurance 32d?

We were £214 last year and cheapest I've found this year is £399. Bizzarely Aviva going direct was £450 but just over £400 through Go Compare for same cover. We're in our 60s with no points. The insurers are taking the P

    Misting up

Oh the joy of those vacuum operated wipers 😉

What do you think of mg5 insurance 32d?

Mine has shot up from £214 last year to £420+ this time. No changes, no points, no accidents just a hike in premium 😲

How many others have been ripped-off at an MG dealer?

Jeez - I took mine in for it's 2 year 16000 mile service. I needed resuscitating when she asked if I was happy with their quoted £309 price. I asked why it was that much and she checked and said they'd entered the wrong code and it was actually - £136 including VAT. I've no problem with that at...

Guess-o-meter calculations. What is your true range and how much you should trust the car's Algo.

A cautionary tale: With under 12 miles to home and the sanctuary of my charger I had 28 miles range showing after a long trip. A bit of a climb over the moor in the dark and my MG5 went into some sort of low battery limp mode with zero range showing. Luckily we were able to crest the hill and...

    London to Wales on M4?

We've twice got to the 0% and zero range in our MG5. First time after being unable to charge on M74 N of Beatock and just managed to make Hamilton McDonald's. Second time in the dark and snow coming over a Pennine pass with 12 miles to go and the display indicating 28 miles range. This time it...

    Charging past 80%

We have a SR MG5 and always charge up to 100% on our 7KW home charger. Does the advice to limit charge to 80% only really matter for rapid chargers?

    Heated seats issue!

    Will do, thanks 👍

Suitable Tyre for MG5 in place of Bridgestone Ecopia

I got a sidewall puncture so had to replace one. Original equipment one was about £140 and a 3 day wait as against a Davanti DX390 fitted there and then from stock for £82.40. No contest - and no issues since!

    Heated seats issue!

I've had two winters with a cold bum despite my MG5 being equipped with heated seats. I mentioned it to the dealers at service time but they didn't get chance to sort it and I never got round to booking it in again. Then it hardly seems worth bothering over Summer, service time comes round again...

    Isolation Switch

My mistake - it was the DNO who I contacted directly and had to fill their online form out and pay upfront for the job. I'm in Yorkshire and did press them on the cost. Was told it was no longer free.

    Isolation Switch

EDF (or the local network provider) charged me £120 just to upgrade the fuse from 80 to 100amp. A 2 minute job.

Whats everyone's thoughts on the negative ev press ?

Not to mention the "snow bombs" the Express claim are going to "blanket England in Arctic conditions" next week, last week or whenever 🤣

    Home Wall Charger

For what it's worth we got a QubEV which is British made, very competitively priced (via Amazon) and has performed well since we connected it up in February. I upgraded the house from 80 to 100 amp. Initially thought it would be a free upgrade but there's now a £130 charge. Took the guy about 2...
