Finally it's worked! The dealer installed some specific updates in less than an hour yesterday, no idea why these were missed or not done previously.
I switched off the trickle-charge option in the app when I got home, plugged the car in and got the usual notification. Happy to report this...
Thanks.
Latest news here is that my dealer has had a response to a ticket they raised with MG HQ and they now want the car back again for further software updates.....
I used a conventional plug-in-plug timer before my 7kW was fitted to take advantage of cheaper rates.
The timing seems to be done via phone apps for the Mk1 rather than directly through the charger, as is the case with the Rolec
No need to apologise, I need all the help I can get! As Gomev says I've got a Mk1 ZS (March 2020) and a smart(ish) Rolec that's operated with the ev.energy app.
Does anyone else use different software to operate the Rolec unit?
If by 'powerline wifi connectors' you mean a booster device that uses the house wiring to extend the wifi signal, then no we don't. We do have a hard-wired extension from router to outdoor 'she-cave'
Yes, it all appeared 'normal' in the set-up in the app and I received the notification that a smart charge was planned. Following your kind input and the dealers assurances, I was surprised anmd dismayed when it didn't work.
What was different from my usual experience was that the car drew full...
So my MG dealer uninstalled and reinstalled the latest software update....... and I still can't charge without using the trickle feature!
Could one of you kind people tell me how to find the software version number on my car and let me know what yours is so that I can compare?
I asked ev.energy this question:
"Could tell me how many MG ZS owners use your app and how many of those use trickle charging when Smart charging?"
Their reply:
"The majority of our users with MGs do use trickle charging. The few that don't tend to have frequent issues with their vehicle...
App v2.11.21 [7004]
I changed the vehicle to an MG5 and the trickle charge on/off disappeared. When I changed it back to a ZS, as suspected, the trickle option re-appeared.
Tbc - I need the trickle option otherwise the car doesn't charge
