    Tyre pressure sensors issue

if your tyres were cold, the pressure may have dropped to 1.9, driving will heat them up and the pressure will rise again. Mine dropped from 2.3 to 1.9 when it was 0 degrees.

Charging MG4 Trophy LR, how much do you get at home in 4 hrs?

seems a bit of a step backward

Charging MG4 Trophy LR, how much do you get at home in 4 hrs?

WOW, how long is your charge lead, where do you lose 1kw ????, A 7kW charger is generally 7.4kW, there shouldn't be virtually any loss going to the car. I regularly do the maths of charge given, mileage gained, time on charge, cost of electric used etc etc and the figures work out pretty exact...

The great big insurance rip off

our insurance renewal for end of January went from £297 last year to £697, got a quote from LV (got house insurance with them), they quoted £489, tried a comparison site, out of 72 results the lowest was £489 (not LV). So will be going with LV.

Charging MG4 Trophy LR, how much do you get at home in 4 hrs?

seems people make the answer more complicated than necessary, simple maths, the KW you are pumping in multiplied by the hours on charge = the total charge given. Therefore rounding off the figures for simplicity, a 7kw charger charging for 10hours will give 70KW, if you have a 70kw battery thats...

    Home charger recommendations

wouldn't recommend a 3.4kw charger in the UK, have seen the ones on UK eBay that say 3.6kw, a bit worrying when the maximum size fuse for a plug top is 13amps. 3.6kw is 15.6 amps, would definitely run hot and most likely melt the plug if they are truly over 3kw, I'm guessing the figures are...

Do you keep a 'charge log'? ⚡️

the battery is under warranty, my electric is free via solar, there's enough stress in life without worrying about kw and battery charge percentages, all I know is, I used to spend £80 a month on diesel & £700 per year on road tax, now I spend £0000

How many others have been ripped-off at an MG dealer?

I'll never forget Ford calling me when my van was in for a service, "your brakes pads are 60% worn, would you like them replaced?", my reply was " so you're telling me my brake pads have almost 50% pad left?, I don't think they need replacing , do you?" , they all try it on because too many will...

How many others have been ripped-off at an MG dealer?

Even more blatant although I didn't go for it. When my car went in for its first service at 2 years old, 12000 miles, mg quoted £487, when I questioned why so high for a car without an engine , they said they could take off the AC service, I said still high, so they took off the brake service...

    Solar and house battery installation

export tarriff is not worth the extra money to go MCS if you can install yourself, I installed a 5kw system, cost less than £4000, payback is less than 2 years, yes I give some back to the grid occasionally but will install batteries now you can get 10kw storage system that will pay for itself...

    Amazon music

not had any issues with apple CarPlay using a lead in our ZS, but my peugeot which also connects via a lead became unusable when I installed a peugeot app on my phone, deleted the peugeot app and apple CarPlay is fine again.

Using Solar to charge your MG5

I have a 5kw system, used zappi to charge from 100% solar yesterday and got 20kw, would have got more but the car was fully charged by then. Car is at home most daytimes so 99% of the time it is only charged via solar. Two reasonably sunny days will charge it from flat to 100% easily, could...

    MG ZS first annual service

When I booked our ZS ev 2021 in for its first service (went in today) they quoted £487, I questioned why it was so expensive and they removed an AC service and brake service (car only done 14,000). and quoted £287. Before taking it in to the dealers, they wanted us to check it in online, which...

    Another charging lesson learned.

had an issue with my first zappi suddenly not charging or only charging a few percent, was a software issue, software refused to acknowledge there was newer downloads so would not update, myenergi sent a new zappi and been fine ever since

Adaptive Cruise Control and regenerative braking question

You are correct, there is no regenerative breaking when using ACC. I tried 2 journeys the same of approx 45 miles , mostly motorway. One journey using ACC and lane keep, driving at 65mph, the return journey driving manually at 70mph, there was no difference in battery use. I suppose the acc...

    Fixing down mats

we bought a used zs, had to pay mg extra for mats , didn't notice for several months that the holes in the mats do not quite line up with the fixings. I assume mg have been lazy and given us new shape mats instead of gen 1 , although the cheap feel of the mats wouldn't surprise me if it was just...

    Regen strength

nearly caught me out the first time I fully charged the car, I live on a steep hill and regen allows me to roll down at a reasonable speed, had to hit the brakes sharpish the first time regen didn't kick in, didn't notice the warning that comes up when you start the car until a later date.

Can you reduce the MG ZS EV charging current?

every cable is different & every installation method is different, for example a 6mm twin and earth cable touching insulation will not be big enough to carry 40amps, but a 4mm twin and earth cable clipped on a wall will carry 40amps , although you then need to start factoring in the length of...
