    Battery Pack (via V2L)

You can run a DC to AC inverter (separate from the car system) directly connected to the HV DC battery output- there’s even space under the bonnet for the unit- there are some self converted electric vehicles that have done this. Classic Electric Cars recently did a VW camper. You would have to...

    LKA after software update.

I had the xpower for the day while my Trophy was in for a service and the LKA and TJA were much better than my Trophy- even after all the software updates on my car. Everything was reset though so maybe after a longer drive it may recalibrate 🤞

Have MG pulled the R46 Update in UK

Did several standing starts in sport mode but didn’t get into track mode this time. Had some fun kicking the back end out and drifting on slimy roundabouts. It’s a great fun through messy, gravelly, slimy country A/B roads and was enjoying the front motor spinning up to pull out of fast corners.

    Battery Pack (via V2L)

It’s not going to have a big impact as the amps/Kw draw is very minimal compared to the draw from the motor under power or when charging, most users will probably only use 5kwh at 10-20amps at the most so the equivalent to 20 miles of driving pulling hundreds of amps is quite low stress...

Have MG pulled the R46 Update in UK

It’s the generic copy for a service so if the oil and filters are scheduled it’s done but obviously not necessary here 🤪🤪 (just yet). £88.70 so a good price for a check over, software updates and wash and vacuum, I had an Xpower for the day too that was fully charged so a good deal. Richmond MG...

    Poor radio sound

Hers a bit rate list for DAB radio across most UK stations, some are even in mono on some popular broadcasts. https://www.astra2sat.com/british-radio/uk-digital-radio-bitrates/ The sound (or quality) can drop off randomly in some areas due to a fall in bit rate especially if it’s only...

Are you happy with your MG4?

Here’s a link to my YouTube install video there are details in the description, I have posted on here but this is probably quicker. Speakers Vibe Slick6-V7 6.5 component fronts and coaxial rears. I got my speakers from a Vibe eBay shop that were new unused without original packaging so were...

Are you happy with your MG4?

All good after 15,300 miles in 12 months. The sound system was pants so I upgraded the speakers and now that’s great too.

Radio didn't turn off when locked.

It happens with any operating systems, to cold reboot turn on the car fully, long press the home button until the screen goes blank then release, this should reboot and clear any boot errors.

Portable petrol generator to make it into a plug in hybrid

Maybe 10 years ago with my first Ev with 80 miles range and very few rapid chargers a portable generator would have been handy. Just not worth it now with 200-300 mile range and 140kw plus rapid charging, you would be looking at 10amp charge speed or having to carry a huge 6-8kw generator plus fuel.

    Lane Keep Assist feature

It is a bit harsh, I always turn the speed limiter on before starting so just flick it off at the same time, it is what it is but it can be deactivated before you set off or switched to haptic alert. Just make it part of your vehicle checks before driving, we share a car so I have to reset the...

    MG4 mud flaps

As others have mentioned it’s just a standard small ratchet with a small socket stub used with a Phillips cross screwdriver bit. Mine is from a large Halfords socket set I’ve had for a long time.

Testing the range of the Trophy MG4

After 10 years driving ev the charge speed is the biggest improvement on a longer trip than longer range. On regular long trips I stop for a toilet/refreshment break at about 3 hours driving time (175 miles in good traffic), plug in and get 142kw in my trophy which puts me back up to 80% with in...

Testing the range of the Trophy MG4

Gave the MG4 Trophy a range test. Did a round trip to Stansted Airport and achieved 4.4 miles per kWh outward and 4.2 return, left home with 100%, arrived at Stansted (108 miles) with 63% 164 miles on the GOM, got back home with 18% and 48 miles remaining. 218 miles on the A3, M25, M11 so thats...

Road Trip From Petersfield (near the South Coast) to Manchester

Hi, glad it was useful. Yes a 10mm socket with extender to reach the bolts. It’s a small change but really makes the space more usable for the dog.

Road Trip From Petersfield (near the South Coast) to Manchester

My German Shepherd is big, 42kg, 75cm floor to shoulder, 95cm to his head and 130cm nose to the base of his tail. Floor is in the lowest position and he can sit up ok if a bit stooped and I removed the floor level change hump at the back (not necessary but gives a flatter space with no lumps)...

Road Trip From Petersfield (near the South Coast) to Manchester

Return journey was similar at 3.8 mi per kWh, saw 4 miles per kWh on the last 50 miles. Started with 96%. No rain, dry but colder at 6-8°c. Stopped for a toilet break at 176 miles with 28% and 68 miles on the GOM, had another 58 miles to home so topped up on a BP Pulse rapid that was...
