    what's the lowest % battery you've gone to on a trip ?

I only ever got down to 15% on the ZS EV. We have an MG4 now (my wife's car), which of course has vehicle to load capability, and actually it will deliver 7.2kw with the right cable. I was going to make up a car-to-car 7.2kw cable so my wife could come and rescue me if I ever conked out close to...

Interesting!! - did not know that!

    Charging on ohme/octopus

To answer your question, I've started setting the charge time limit on the car, just in case the Ohme charger crashes and defaults to "always on" mode - it's done that a couple of times in the very hot weather we had in june (ours is mounted on a south-facing wall, in full sun, so it does get...

    Charging on ohme/octopus

We've had Ohme, Octopus and MG now for 3 1/2 years. We started off doing lots of maths as per above posts. However we very soon ended up with the simple "charge as full as you can during cheap rate". With Octopus Intellegent, we have 6hrs of cheap rate overnight, which is enough to put more than...

    Back to diesel

I would advise to take the long term view. Both my wife and I have been driving electric now for 3 years (first electric car was an MG ZS EV Mk1 (160mile range at best), then I replaced my well-loved Volvo V70 diesel with a Kia e-Niro (270 miles range) for longer journeys. We've just replaced...

An update on the increasing play on my loose steering column :)

I took mine into my dealer, showing them this thread. They did the work under warranty, and no more clicking :)

    A car with character

Hi Dave, thanks for your comment - it's interesting that you mention range anxiety. Before we had the MG, all my thinking regarding electric cars revolved around range, and range anxiety. The reason we went for the MG was that it was the first car in that price bracket with a "reasonable" range...

    A car with character

All, we've had our ZS EV now since January, and have clocked up nearly 8000 miles in that time. In late July I took delivery of a Kia e-Niro which I'd ordered back in December, before even we ordered the MG (which arrived in two weeks!!). The MG was our first electric car, and this forum has...

Which Upgrade would you like next for the ZS EV? In-car time programmable charging?

I agree regarding the setup of screens on the centre display - these need re-arranging to make them more logical and easier to use. It's stupid that the two most used screens ("home" and "lane assist") are separated by a never-used speed warning screen, so you're forever skipping two over and...

Which Upgrade would you like next for the ZS EV? In-car time programmable charging?

Thanks for your interesting reply - good to see that my Kia experience is not unique :-) - We've lamented on this site many times the lack of app (GPRS head unit) and railed at MG for short-changing the UK market. A hardware upgrade (even paid-for) would be very welcome for many of us MG owners...

Which Upgrade would you like next for the ZS EV? In-car time programmable charging?

We now have two electric cars; the MG and a new Kia e-Niro. The Kia does have car-based timed charging, but it's of no use to me, as I have Agile Octopus tarriff (by far the best EV tarriff in the UK at present) which needs specific intellegence in the charger to pick up the half-hour pricing...

MG ZS EV First Rapid Charge

Is your car pre or post comfort2 update? I seem to be seeing faster charging now that I've had the upgrade. I got over 40kwh from a Geniepoint about a month ago, just after I had the upgrade.

    Difficult rapid chargers

    Difficult rapid chargers

From my (fairly limited) experience of public charging I would say there's no compatibility issue as such with the MG; but simply reliability issues in general with certain chargers. My MG has successfully taken a charge from all types of (CCS Rapid) chargers which I've tried, including...

An update on the increasing play on my loose steering column :)

Thanks once again, Paulie68, for your detailed description of this issue. On the strength of your post my dealer took my car on Monday and lo and behold, they found the loose bolt! So mine is now click-free too! Hooraaayy! :)

HaHa - well, I see some "gentlemen motorists" on this thread, but they're a dying breed it seems....

    AC charging rate

I've seen charging bays blocked by PHEVs which have finished charging (probably within a few minutes!) but the car is then left with the cable attached while the owner goes about their business. I feel that charging etiquette should be that the driver returns to the vehicle around the time that...

    AC charging rate

Hmmmm... you make a very valid point. We have queuing at petrol pumps already, with several separate queues for individual pumps, and/or a single queue forming out of the station (our local supermarket station is very often like this) so chaotic queuing is already happenning in the car filling...

    AC charging rate

Frank, I absolutely agree! I went with my son-in-law to collect his new model 3 from Birmingham in March (just before lockdown). I took him up in the MG then followed him home. We visited the Strensham services on the M5 on the way home. I pulled in to the scruffy old Ecotrishitty charger...
